I have a 1970 Cadillac Calais. I've recently had to change my stock carburetor because National Carburetor does not offer a rebuilt model for my make. I purchased a 1411 Eldelbrock for 214 from them with a life time warranty. Question is I do not know where to hook up the electric choke too. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I will also be dropping the gas tank this week to change the strainer inside of it.. Im guessing its 40 years old also.

The electric choke need 12volts when the key is on.. Make sure you keep your old carb.. Chances are you will be sending it out to be rebuilt..

Im thinking about adding an electric fuel pump to my caddy and also changing the points distributor to an hei system

I did the hei thing but the fuel pump on these seem to be pretty reliable

did you do the hei yourself ? I just changed my valve cover gaskets today. mustve been on there 20+ years

it came on the newer engine that I swapped in but I had to wire it up. If you have the double belt system you will have to take one belt off to run HEI

Well i finally got my cadillac running good and the electric choke hooked up. I wired up an additional accessory fuse panel under the hood which should also help when I can switch to hei. only 3 things left to do before I can focus on the inside of the car and paint. Remove rusted exhaust manifold bolts (one broken bolt) and replace with new ones and gaskets, order my front suspension kit from this comapny I found which has cheap prices for lifetime warranty. $369 and it includes everything except upper ball joints because they are out of stock. do an alignment then its finished essentially

On the subject of exhaust gaskets.. I would not use any.. But if I feel I had to use a gasket I would use a solid copper one.. MTS sells them.. If you put the part store gaskets on there they well blow out and be loud.. With no gasket they will leak a tiny bit and over time quiet up... They came stock without gaskets..

Thanks for the tip. I'm thinking about buying a used hei distributor off eBay this week. Should I buy an over haul kit OT just new cap and rotor. Thanks. Do you have yahoo messenger or Facebook?
