: 2.3 Twin Screw supercharger is finished.

It's been a while but we finished it up today. There really wasn't any issue with the blower but I have just been swamped at the shop after taking a vacation. It's been sitting on my tool box for over a month.
It's a Lysholm 2.3 liter twin screw setup. Besides being larger than the factory unit, the internal intercooler is about twice the size. That alone, combined with my 1600GPH pump and large heat exchanger, will make a big difference.
We took the stocker off and had this one on in a couple of hours. There were some wires that needed to be lengthened and we needed to weld up some tubing for the CAI. That took a while.
I had 4 prototype upper pulleys made but the offset was wrong. I just set one up in the lathe and turned it down until it fit correctly. Now I have the correct measurement so I can have more made.
We had no other issues with fitment. We spliced the water hoses together but I'll clean that up later with new hoses.
First driving impressions are very good. It made 13# at part throttle, almost instantly. It is WAY snappier than before. And you gotta love the real blower sound now!
I have only done very quick little hits in 1st through 3rd gears. Until I have a chance to throw it on the dyno I'll have to be careful.
My headers are also sitting in the shop. Something else I need to find the time for.
It looks like I can build complete kits for under $5000.

Looks very nice indeed.

Can't wait to see the numbers; that sounds amazing.

So you started on a blower kit for us after all the other heavy hitters and managed to finish it before most have, nice! I'd love to see one on an E85 car with some more boost thrown at it. How does this blower compare to Kenny Bell or Whipple? I would really love a whipple 2.9 kit

Wow, yeah I want to see some numbers sir. Looks/sounds great! Congrats

Impressive Andy and priced very well!!

Looks great. Please post dyno chart asap.

very nice , post dyno ASAP please!

Very nice, good job.

I'm certain it will put down some serious numbers...awesome job Andy

wow... I can't image the look on somebodies eyes when you popped the hood and they see something like that sitting there

Sweet. If the numbers are as good as I think they will be, put me down for one of these bad boys.

OK. I had a chance to play on the dyno a little.
I really should have hooked up a real boost gauge. It pegs the gauge from beginning to end of the run.
IATs were awsome. 84* was as hot as it got at the top of the run.
It REALLY need headers on it. I'm still running stock manifolds and mid pipes.
The blower made a huge difference in torque, It's almost 60# at about 3500 RPM. I probably could get a little more up top, but I'm pretty sure it's just corked up with the manifolds and tiny cam. I just straightened out the AFR. Timing is the same.
Gotta remember that the car is an automatic too.

Run 9 is with the old blower 9.1" lower, 2.55 upper.
Run 5 is the new blower 9.1"lower, 2.85 upper.

Questions, no. Comments? You bet! Damn that is just plain delicious. Beautiful kit.

08-31-11, 10:38 PM
Yeah, you bet that thing is probably struggling to breathe at the top end! :)

I picked up my ARH headers and pipes from Xtreme Heat Coatings today. Maybe I'll have the guys throw them on tomorrow.

09-01-11, 08:58 AM
Prob wont see anything soon but do you have an estimate when these kits may become available?

09-01-11, 09:34 AM
As far as kits to install goes, I can have them ready in a couple of days. The only issue is that I'll need to make the CAI on the car.
Once I make a jig and weld up a few intake tubes, I'll have kits available for shipment. I'm thinking a couple of weeks at the ouside.
I'll be sending the pulley out to the machine shop today. That will leave me with two for installs until he makes more.
The same shop that makes all my Corvette pulleys is doing them.

This is getting REAL interesting now that you mentioned the proximity of completion.

09-03-11, 02:26 PM
Is the torque falling off on this combo because the blower is being overspun?

The Tony Show
09-03-11, 04:05 PM
Probably choking at higher RPMs because of the stock headers.

09-03-11, 05:01 PM
I've got headers and a blower cam, just trying to make sure I wouldn't run into those torque issues.
