I'm not sure which is my favorite, either Auto Zone or O'Rylies. These are the automotive stores around where I live (Wichita, Kansas), so there is probubly stores in you area that i didn't mension.

no o'rylies here... Pep boys is far away too... and they are ricey...

Auto Zone and Advance I consider the same... unless you speak to a manager, or a smart kid (1/6 chance) the people that work there don't know anything... and I don't like some of the parts they carry...

NAPA is really good... but there is an Advance in town, so I usually go there...

AutoZone is headquartered in Memphis, so most of our stores are VERY good. I'm sure there are some lousy AutoZones somewhere in the country.

They built us the best minor-league ballpark in the country.

I like advance and autozone myself. Advance is a little better when it comes to getting parts, but guys at Autozone are better than the pencil necked kids at advance who give you stupid ass answers.

NAPA sucks , you dont know how much greif they have caused me over the last 10 years , used them for 2 years on my own then had no choice at a shoop i worked at another 3 years , then 4 long years of the airforce dealing with them and one last time a few months ago when i had no choice but to go there .....Low quality parts and low quality people behind the counter , they dont know a waterpump from a alternator (acutally happend once)

Thus i found out what NAPA stands for "Need Another Part As$hole"

man i just got done saying that in another thread about some dude blowing a tranny out of an escort ..weird

Funny thing about Auto Zone and O'Reillys, The latter is a result of a rather harsh divorce. The Husband owns Auto Zone, the Wife Owns O'Reilly's. So, everywhere there is a Auto Zone, wait a little while and you will surely see an O ' Rielly's. Sure enough, it happened here. About two blocks from each other.

I've used Auto Zone in the past. No real complaints. They did sell me the wrong ignition module one time. When I came back they of course grilled me making sure I wasn't a dumbass trying to install it incorrectly. I was really impressed with they lady that helped me. After she believe I knew what I was doing, they cross referenced my VIN number and found out their catalog had the incorrect year module.

I also like how they can test ignition Coils and a few other things, and the loaning of tools, never used that, but nice to know it's there.

I havenít had to purchase any auto parts locally since O'Rielly has been here. But from what I understand, O'Rielly is more focused on Auto Shops and/or the more serious back yard mechanic. They, supposedly, sell higher quality parts and are more knowledgeable. They also have delivery.

----

This reminds me,

My brother had to go to Auto Zone to buy a radiator hose. He walked in there and there was a short line.

Well, a lady had just gotten off break, or just finally arrived there, so she came up and asked one of the guys in front of my brother if she could help him. The tone of his voice, body movements, and the obviously odd response all told you he was a firm believer that women know sh!t. We don't think like that, so naturally he was pissed, and I was pissed when I heard it. But, anyway, she then asked me brother if she could help him. He said thanks and walked up. Told her what he needed, she walked back and got it, checked him out right there.

And, he beat that ignorant pr1ck out the door :histeric:

.....ugh, Why do they block out the work "pr(i)ck"? It's not even a curse word. What in God's name. Hmm, I wonder if they will block out "God"...Let's see.

damn. that's a nice park.

most big auto stores can suck or can be great. the store doesn't matter, it's what's in the store. mostly the people. some places have great people working and some have shitty people working. the best auto store that was around me closed for inventory and then never reopened. now i'm stuck with advance near my house and autozone near my work. both are ok and i can usually get what i want, at least in a day or two, but neither are anything great.
