: My Collection of '59 Cadillac Professional Cars

... well, in diecast form anyway. :D But these should hold me over until I get my hands on the real thing.

Decided to collect these now discontinued (Precision Miniatures is now out of business) after a chance finding of the flower car earlier this year. I had always wanted these models since their debut, but they were too rich for my blood. After they all became discontinued and prices started going up I decided to give up on the idea... until I got a smokin' deal on the flower car a couple months back, and of course a guy can't have just *one.* :P

My parents even gave me this cabinet so that they can be displayed for all to see! Also thanks to fellow Cadillac-lover Dave Smith for selling me his red Crown ambulance.

The Ecto-1 is a 1:21 replica that Ertl produced a couple years back (I bought at Walmart for $19.99 way back), and all the others are from Precision Miniatures "Sunset Coach" series in 1:18. Bought the Series 75 and driver from an online diecast retailer, the Crown Landaulet on eBay, the Crown ambulance from a friend and the Coupe de Fleur was a lucky find on Kijiji.

I managed to get them all with original boxes & packaging, too.

Mattel is releasing a supposedly true 1:18 Ecto-1 before the Christmas season this year. It will feature extreme detailing and is intended for adult collectors. Price will be over $100.00... I've added it to my Christmas list.

Hope you guys enjoy! They are very satisfying to sit and stare at!

Nice! I love the detail. You should get 1:18 corpses for the caskets. Doesn't look like the chauffeur will fit in there.

If he doesn't fit then the scale must be wrong :O

Funny you mention that:

The first driver I had fell off the shelf and his head came off. I had to order another one, as they sell them seperately. He does fit... the first chauffeur is laying in one of the caskets. :shhh:

hahaha gatta show a pic of that :D

Does he fit with or without his head? :-p

Itīs a great collection! '59 is emblematic in the cadillac history, one of the most beloved years for most of cadillac and classic cars lovers. Itīs incredible how detailed are these scale models and itīs surprising everyone has its own accessory: Coffin, Ghost, Chauffeur...

Iīve always loved '59s since I first knew their existence. When young I made a '59 Eldorado assembly kit, which I detailed in addition scale 1:24. It was supposed to be pink but Iīve never liked pink cadillacs (Sorry, Elvis), so I painted it in light yellow. I copied as many details as I could from an illustrated report in a Classic car magazine. Even made a setting for it with clay, paint and scale model plants:

I have the third one down! It was a "Sorry for leaving Pennsylvania, where your real one is" gift from my parents.

I am pretty sure it got used in a Halloween display last year someplace.
