: Found a V, Want a Second Opinion

I found a listing on Ebay for a V wagon black diamond for bidding at 54k. I went to the dealer's website and checked the price and t was 59k. The Carfax shows that the owner had the 'body electrical system checked'. It smells fishy, as a trade in with that kind of mileage should be at least 65k. Anyone?

First, a link would help...

But

No way anyone would give 65k on a trade in- even with 1 mile.

Here's the listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUPERCHARGED-6-2-W-556-HP-TRADED-NEW-NISSAN-GTR-/380363709516?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item588f719c4c#ht_36245wt_1165

If the dealer were selling the car for 59k, that means the owner only got ~55k. Who would accept that little for a 2500 miles cts-V which was originally 70k?

Maybe he got a better deal on the GTR. But how much can you expect to get on a used 2011 that invoices for $65k with 2012s rolling out?

I would think getting 55k for it is pretty reasonable actually... That 70k was sticker- the invoice price was probably like $65k, and there was potentially $3k in factory to dealer cash available on top of that.

the car doesnt really look like a black diamond.. its more like black raven... unless the pics dont do it justice.. but i dont think the price isnt that bad... its actually reasonable i think.

VIN lists it as Black Raven. Looks like it had a rim replaced 7/28. I don't see anything from the electrical system check in the Global Warranty System.

One of the pics showed silver flecks in the paint, but the only way to be sure is to see it in person. How did you get the info?

VIN contains that info. Believe Matt, he is all-knowing in these things as he is a GM employee. :)

Looks like a good deal, a near new Vagon for 5k below invoice.

Agreed, it is definitely black raven, I have a black diamond and the yellow specks are visible. That is pure black with either some water spots or water in some of the photos. I had a black raven 08 CTS and the color is just like that one. Also, pricing should be right at 70K sticker. My diamond was 70.5K sticker, and had everything except sunroof. I suspect sunroof/diamond paint is about an even swap. Not sure how he got the yellow calipers/black satin wheels. I thought that was diamond only. I also am not surprised on the 55K price. I was *stunned* when I looked at a 09V in sept 08 when they first came out how little the dealer was offering for my 08 1 year old plain CTS. The "new" in new car is worth alot, even if warranty is intact. I sort of get it, I mean really, what if the car was driven rough from the get go and broken in badly? I don;t know how bad it really is not to follow breakin, but I do it, even though not mashing on the accelerator for 1500 miles is not easy:) I am pretty happy I waited to get a V. Got the wagon, which was not available in 08 and I only lost another 4K on the trade value of my 08CTS, compared to what they offered back in 2008. Granted my cars are kept in pristine condition, but it really illustrates what it costs to drive off the lot.

It's definitely black raven, and while there were limitations on what paint color the rims could be ordered with, you didn't need the BD package to get them... But you did need to take the yellow calipers with them for some unknowable reason :)

Sold My 2011 V sedan to Carmax for 55k yesterday. 3000 miles on the ODO. 59k seems about right for dealer retail ..

:hmm: You've only had your V for 4 months and already sold it!
Another GTR?

i would expect that you could buy a brand new wagon like that for a little over 60,000 using the incentives available and contacts on this site... plus if you consider 0% interest currently offered, id be hard pressed to buy used to save a little on sales price.

plus, and i promise this, you never know what has gone on with that car. most of us that short these cars with no miles on them get our asses handed to us just to get away. we do it because the car we had or have is a raging piece of shit.

caveat emptor my friend... caveat emptor.

wow. bitter anyone?
