: problems starting

I've noticed recently that my 95 FWB sometimes will not not start on the first turn of the key when hot. For example, I recently drove about 45 miles, stopped to gas up but when it was time to get going again it took three turns of the key to get started. This has happened on a few other occasions and is not comforting. I've checked the codes but there is none that helps to pinponit a problem. What if anything can I check or be on the look out for?

Need more info. When it is "not starting", is it cranking, or is there nothing happening?

"Dragging noise" Have the battery and the starter tested and evaluated.

not necessarily dragging noise....that's my bad...

dragging, compared to the way it normally fires

must admit, have not had starter or battery checked lately, the battery though is about 2 yr old "Exide" brand.

Clean and tighten the battery connections first.

1. Clean and tighten the battery terminals;
2. Check that you have a good ground;
3. Have the charging system tested;
4. If all checks out and problem persists - pay for fuel filter and pump. lol

can a fuel pump be sourced at a junkyard or must it be bought new?

Sure, you can find a used fuel pump. That's like finding a used condom.

Check your battery/starter/ground connections first!

If it only happens when engine is hot it is probably not the pump but rather starter/connections/battery/alternator/cables. Replacing a starter on LT1 may take less than 10 minutes.
