I do my oil changes myself. My dealer explained that my oil leak is coming from a missing rubber washer on my oil drain plug (i.e. bolt) I have 2008 Escalade and don't remember a rubber washer being there when I did the oil change. Do all of you DIY oil changers replace a rubber washer?

Head down to your local auto parts store to get a replacement. Oreiley's auto parts can tell you what the manufacturer recommends. You can buy them in a 3 pack for a couple bucks. Some vehicles call for rubber washers, some call for copper or aluminum washers. I change out the washer about every other oil change on my vehicles.

Yes there is a washer, it usually stays in place, if you go to a dealership they will probbaly give you a few
