Sometimes while driving slow and under light acceleration from stops, i get a bit of a un smooth shift from 2nd to 3rd. I know theres a TSB for it, my factory bumper to bumper warranty is gone. Would that be covered under the power train?

Ghost Deany,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue. I encourage you to have your vehicle checked out at the dealership to confirm if what you are experiencing does truly fall under the TSB. Your dealership will also be able to let you know if that issue is under warranty.

Thank you,

Elizabeth, Cadillac Customer Service

I just bought my first escalade (07) and have never heard of TSB. Could someone enlighten me?

Thank you!

Technical Service Bulletin. Not a recall but similar. A notice from the factory of a possible problem in a certain area but is probably not a issue with all vechicles.

Toddstun,

It provides technicians required new service information. It provides a correction to a specific product problem and usually contains repair procedures, information on part numbers and availability, and warranty labor code information.

Ive found that all the newer GM's ive owned have a "slip-shift" or "shift-bang" problem from the factory on the 2-3 shift. Its really not a problem, but if your feathering the throttle or driving around town in stop-n-go, it can be annoying. Combine that with GM's agressive throttle tip in, and it down right takes some getting used to unless its your daily driver. My 06 silverado did it until I put a shift kit and custom tune in it.....i sold that for a power stroke and dont find it as pronouned in the ford. My wifes 09' escalade is the lazyest shifter ever......hate it. Once warranty up, definately goint to address it. It should go right into gear with no hesitation.

Just got my truck back today. Dealer had it almost 2 weeks for the 2-3 hard shift and for a oil leak. For the first 30 mins, it seemed to shift smoothly, then it started getting crappy again from 2-3, and now sometimes in the parking lot, ill get a loud clunk from 2nd to 3rd. Taking it back next week..

They said the cause was : Doc 2702577 applies, anyone know what that means? The list says 1 retainer, 1 frt freight, 1 seal kit, 1 seal, 1 seal, 6 atf. Replace sealing rings with new design

Last night in manual shift, i had it consistently clunking from 2nd into third at around 1400 rpm. Today, i barely got any hard shifts at all in D, and tried again in manual 2nd to third to get it to clunk, and only got it to do it 2 times out of about 10. What a real pain in the ass

Now it is shifting as smooth as butter. Go figure

I think I have the same problem and I am bringing my in soon. Annoying as heck and it definitely wasn't there before. I couldn't reproduce it in manual mode either. It happens consistently whenever:

1) I step on the gas pedal after coasting (foot off the gas) for a bit
2) Just moments before I come to a complete stop
3) When I accelerate from stop

If it is fixed with powertrain warranty it will be cooled. I have extended warranty but a $200 deductible.

Cheers!

My truck is a 08 and have the same problem. Brought it brand new and started doing this just months later. Took it to the dealership and they couldn't figure it out, and told me to come back when it gets worse. I've taken it a few times after that, same answer. Lately its gotten worse so I decided to call and talk to the
Manager to see if they would honor the warranty like they said the would. The manager there described the problem to me right to the 'T', and said this was normal for these truck. Not once did anyone tell me about this tsb. So frustrated. Buy a new truck that drives like its got loose drive train. This is been going on for over 6 year's can someone please tell me what the actual problem is?
Thanks

Mines been doing the same damn thing and the dealer told me it was alright so don't even step a foot back at the dealer to complain they will only take your money and I've done some research something about the grand how it needs something replaced I will see if I can copy and paste it on here to help you out I haven't told my transmission mechanic about it but it seems like that's gonna be the problem

Note: Vehicles built prior to December 2008 are more likely to have leaking fluid seal rings. Starting in November 2008, a new 2-piece seal was implemented. When the transmission pump is removed and a 2-piece seal (1) is found, do not continue on with this bulletin. The guidelines of this bulletin will not apply to a 2-piece seal. Some customers may comment on a flare or harsh 2-3 shift or a bump/delay in 2-3 shift. Cause This condition may be caused by leaking 1-2-3-4 and 3-5-R clutch fluid seal rings. The following conditions are indications that the fluid seal rings may be leaking. • Delayed/extended or delayed with harsh feel initial Park to Drive and/or Reverse to Drive shifts that are more likely to occur when the transmission temperature is below approximately 40C (104F). • Harsh or flaring 2-3 shifts that are more likely to occur when the transmission fluid temperature is in the approximately 0C (32F) to 40C (104F) temperature range, but can be present at any temperature. • Harsh 2-3 shifts that are more likely to occur at less than 50% throttle pressure. Correction Important: DO NOT replace the transmission control valve body, transmission control module (TCM) or transmission fluid pump cover assembly. Verify the customer's concern with the described conditions above. Then replace the 1-2-3-4 and 3-5-R clutch fluid seal rings. Remove the transmission assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Transmission Replacement in SI. Remove the transmission oil pan. Refer to Automatic Transmission Fluid, Fluid Pan and/or Filter Replacement in SI. Notice: When removing the transmission control valve body, discard the O-ring seals and install new seals, GM P/N 24236927. Failure to install control valve body O-ring seals may cause internal transmission leaks and transmission damage. Remove the transmission control valve body. Refer to Control Valve Body Assembly/Removal in SI. Remove the transmission bell housing / fluid pump. Refer to Torque Converter Housing with Fluid Pump Removal in SI. Mines a 2007 and it clunks and has a hard shift I haven't done anything yet to correct the problem but after time of time investigating this seemed to be the problem

Ok, sounds good I will look into this. I will have to find a transmission guy first.

Sorry. I was trying to figure out how to subscribe to this thread as I have that exact same problem...not uncommon I read, but easier to save it replying to the thread. Anyone have any cost on doing this repair?

I might just take that information posted earlier and take it to the dealership to see how much labor would be just so I can post it. LOL.
