I had to replace the starter while in Mesa visiting friends. With towing to the dealer, close to 1K... What luck tho.... It could have stranded me out in the middle of nowhere...and in that heat..

Labor was $410.00... Had to pay for a tow also...I had the tires balanced also and I can tell you that being 1,000 miles from home it was a good feeling to pick the car up and move on...at least they put in a "lifetime" starter..

Compressor when out the same time with trunk sensor. compressor $681 sensor $135 the total $1498.25 with tax and labors. And today I saw the pool of coolant on the floor. I don't know how much this going to cost me. :nono:

johnyc,

Not sure what year XLR you have, but the ole puddle on the floor caused by splitting radiators is a standard issue with the '04-05s. When replaced, the XLR-V radiator holds up great.

ccclarke,
my Cadillac is 05. Not the radiator the water pump and they also said the coolant leak on to the 2 belts. and they said my 2 belts are bad too. now I have to replace the 2 belts and water pump estimate cost $965. They have to wait for the parts coming. It's should be done by tomorrow.

Pray you never have an alternator go out. They're located on the bottom of the engine and are water-cooled. Replacing it is a nightmare and very expensive labor-wise. The bad radiators are on '04-early '06 models. Mine was replaced twice until the upgraded radiator did the trick.

I got my car back today. $920 ouch. However, everything seems to be ok for now.
