I used iMovie on my Mac.. Once you get the hang of it it's actually pretty good especially when you consider the alternative (spending $800.00 on final cut pro.). Anyhow I see you are in Miami, if you ever want to meet up and shoot both our cars let me know..

yea it should be a good time. Maybe the next time i hit the track you can go if you want. If you have a helmet you can do a ride along. Not as much fun as driving but still fun.

I love the video! What did you use to mount the camera to the side of your V?

I'd imagine he used the GOPro Moto Suction cup mount....it's pretty bad-ass....

I'd imagine he used the GOPro Moto Suction cup mount....it's pretty bad-ass....One of the SHO guys had a number of GoPro cameras and was handing them out to different guys at VIR. Had one on mine for a session and was hitting 145 on the back stretch regularly without issue. bad-ass, indeed...

@Bigjim, post the vid man, i would LOVE to see it...The guy runs an online weblog. He has all the footage and he'll be making a big production out of it. I'm dying to see it myself...

BTW...the suction cup mount works great on the interior of our V's sunroof when mounted upside-down.....

If you mount it all the way back on the sunroof on passenger side and angle the camera a little bit towards the driver's side.....you get a GREAT view of the gauges, steering wheel and the entire winshield......

looked like some good fun. Was it just me or are you not thresh hold braking?

Once I and the Vette cleared those cars, we were able to open it up. None of those laps were clean. There was a couple points I was able to hit my lines and brake late. The Hog Pen, for instance. Unfortunately, that was the last session of the day and the batteries finally died halfway through the session.

Jimbo! Nice vid....sic lines.....tell that Vette to get out of the way.....he's messing with your lap splits!

BTW....nice wax job on the hood......

Ohhhh.....what speed did you hit on the straight-a-way?

I think I was hitting 142-143. I have 275/35 18 tires which is off a bit so speedo is inaccurate...

Damn! Nice.....how high in revs were you in 5th.....and how much more did you fell you had in the pedal?

BTW.......do you have a speed limiter....or did you tune it out? I know mine kicks in at 149....arghhhh....but probably a blessing in disguise.

That Vette was skootin though.... Whats with all the SHO's.. I have never seen so many in one place before. Are they that popular of track cars or something?

thebigjimsho

They've been dominating the LeMons racing series. And they had quite the pedigree back in the early-mid 90s. But the reason for all the SHOs was that this track day was part of the National Taurus SHO Owners Convention.

Dems is good people. So good I still go to the Conventions every year even though I've been without my '92 SHO for almost 8 years now...

What were the specs on those early 90's SHOs......? I remember them back in the day being pretty quick......

220hp 3.0 DOHC Yamaha headed motor. About 3100-3300lbs. And while 220hp was good, it wasn't the highest hp around. BUT, with the gearing and a flat torque curve once into the secondaries, it could pull on 300hp cars up high. And a 7000rpm redline. In '89? That was insane...
