So I bought these today . . .

Obviously I can't be rolling around with Impala logos on my wheels. I really like the design of the center cap and I'm thinking about doing something a little custom. My other option is to order a set of 2000 Deville center caps with the wreath and crest on them like this:

So my thought would be to get some black automotive grade vinyl sticker, same stuff they use for stripes and letters. Stick it on the black part of the center cap and trim it to where it just looks like a blank black face. Then get a new Cadillac crest and glue it on the black vinyl center that is blocking the impala logo. Any other thoughts on how to do this? I haven't tried to take apart the center cap yet, but I'm thinking that actually putting a real Cadillac crest on it would look a million times better than a printed sticker with the Cadillac crest.

Comments, suggestions??

EDIT: I was thinking that I'd use Cadillac roof emblems with no pegs. Not sure if I want the wreath and crest, or just the crest. Like these

I can't say I like how those rims look on the car, but I like the idea of putting the crest on the center cap. If you can find an appropriately sized wreath and crest, go for it. The crest alone looks funny. You could scuff and paint the Impala emblems instead of going the vinyl route, but either way will work.

^ I'm just afraid the paint wouldn't stick to that clear plastic and would start to flake off.

If you scuff and thoroughly clean the clear plastic emblem, the paint won't flake (you could even use an adhesion promoter). But if you feel more comfortable with vinyl, go that route. I'd recommend high gloss vinyl instead of low gloss though, the double sided tape on the wreath and crest will stick better to the smooth surface of the high gloss.

I would black out the center part where the impala logo is and then stick on some cadillac emblems. it would look pretty cool i think.

If you email Adam Haack on the ISSF, he has nice vinyl centercap decals for you. A couple of different Cadillac designs.

The thing I miss the most about my dearly departed DTS was the chrome fan blade rims and center caps.
