***EDIT: This is not a gripe list or a complaint about GM quality or an attack on GM service. I just wanted a bunch of stuff fixed that annoys me each day that I drive. I absolutely love this car!!!! If you want to add comments about your bad experiences or complain.....go post in another thread!!! :cool2: ***

So, I finally got around to bringing in my car for the rear suspension recall and to take care of some minor annoyances. Below is the list of items I wanted addressed:

1. Recall on rear suspension
2. Howling noise from engine bay 8 seconds after starting (Began on 7/6/11)
3. Rear differential groans when cold. Also has gotten much louder as the miles pass. Rear diff easily heard at speed 40 mph and up.
4. Small coolant leak found on driver side top of engine, enough that I recently had to add coolant
5. Rear deck rattling, very severe in everyday driving, unbearable with music on
6. Rear driver side, folding roof handle rattling, seems as the spring is not loaded properly
7. Center console creaking during slow hard turns, both sides of console
8. Dashboard rattle from center left area
9. Driver side door panel rattles with music
10. Sunroof rattle when turning or heavy bumps
11. Trim on interior B-pillar passenger side when side and roof connect is loose
12. Rough idle - engine displays some slight surging and shuddering, has gotten worse with time
13. Sounds like scrolls from supercharger are making contact, making horrible "marbles in a blender" sound at all engine speeds
14. Loud knock when engine is shut off, sounds like some sort of backlash from supercharger gears
15. The Nav/Radio occasionally does not respond to any touchscreen or button commands, radio firmware update needed?
16. Pulsating brakes on normal braking

It was a pretty big list and I expected the car to be in the shop awhile. I've worked on cars enough in my life that I know what I'm asking to be looked at requires a lot of time. I guessed it would take a week.

I dropped the car off on Monday 7/11 and so far, here is/are the diagnosis(es):

1. Recall -done
2. Howling caused from supercharger water pump - new part ordered
3. New rear differential ordered. Due in tomorrow.
4. Leak might be why pump had to be replaced, researching
5. TBD - researching
6. New handle ordered
7. TBD - researching
8. Unknown
9. TBD - researching
10. TBD - researching
11. New B-pillar trim piece ordered
12/13/14 -The specialist is currently looking into all of these issues, I'm hoping they elect to replace the supercharger.
15. Unknown - this is so sporadic I don't really care, but since I had it in there already I figured I'd add it to the list.
16. Obviously this is a maintenance issue. I figured I'd have them resurface the rotors while it was in. They may do this for free...we'll see :shhh: .

Overall, I'm very impressed with the service that I am receiving. They are being very proactive in fixing every single issue I've presented them with. It seems their service manager is really on top of service. They ordered the rear differential without even telling me about it. They just called me to verify that it would be OK for them to hold onto the car an extra day. For a new rear diff?? Heck ya....keep it for two days!

Oh, they also gave me a base CTS loaner with the 3.0L V6. The car is slow off the line but it's a lot of fun winding it out to 7k on each shift, this engine has good midrange punch from 4k-7k. The fun part is when I can go through two 7k shifts and I'm not doing 40+ mph over the speed limit. :lildevil:

I'll keep updating this post as I learn more.

I'm getting those weird rattles too. First one was from the arm rest in the rear. I put it back up, rattle is muffled and only audible to rear passengers. Now there is another rattle. Sound like it might be the same as yours, rear deck area.

Dude, I am hoping for the best but here's my guess based on service I've received:

1. Recall on rear suspension - THEY CAN DO THIS
2. Howling noise from engine bay 8 seconds after starting (Began on 7/6/11) THEY ARE REPLACING PART
3.Rear differential (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/#) groans when cold. Also has gotten much louder as the miles pass. Rear diff easily heard at speed 40 mph and up. THEY WILL MESS UP THE INSTALL
4. Small coolant leak found on driver side top of engine, enough that I recently had to add coolant - MAYBE CAN FIX
5. Rear deck rattling, very severe in everyday driving, unbearable with music on - WILL DESTROY
6. Rear driver side, folding roof handle rattling, seems as the spring is not loaded properly - CAN FIX
7. Center console (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/#) creaking during slow hard turns, both sides of console - WILL SCRATCH UP, NOT FIX
8. Dashboard rattle from center left area - WILL DESTROY
9. Driverside (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/#) door panel rattles with music - WILL SCRATCH/DESTROY
10. Sunroof rattle when turning or heavy bumps - WILL SCRATCH / DESTROY HEADLINER
11. Trim on interior B-pillar passenger side when side and roof connect is loose - MAYBE CAN FIX
12. Rough idle - engine displays some slight surging and shuddering, has gotten worse with time - CAN'T FIX
13. Sounds like scrolls from supercharger are making contact, making horrible "marbles in a blender" sound at all engine speeds - ISOLATOR, PROB. WILL MISDIAGNOSE
14. Loud knock when engine is shut off, sounds like some sort of backlash from supercharger gears - SAME THING I THINK
15. The Nav/Radio occasionally does not respond to any touchscreen or button commands, radio firmware update needed? NO FIX
16. Pulsating brakes on normal braking - CAN'T FIX

^spot on

dont forget that everything on the car will have the hell scratched out of it when you get it back.

my car had the entire interior pulled and when i got it back there were knicks and cuts in almost every panel on the interior and a few on the exterior. i'd but the damage/depreciation done by the dealer at around 12-15k.

and fwiw, i was warned by several on here to just let it be and live with the minor annoyances... i didnt.

How many miles on your V, CTSVeee?

The only issue I've had on the list was the rear diff groaning in the cold. Fixed, no questions, under warranty. The center console made noise as you described for a few miles when the car was new, but I haven't had it for most of my ownership. Of course, all recalls taken care of.

Hey neuronbob, I have about 18k on the car now.

I can live with most of the squeeks and rattles, heck, I can probably fix all of them myself (double-sided tape + foam = quiet). However, since the car has a warranty, I'd rather have them take a shot at those annoyances first. The car had to be brought in to fix the recall, so I might as well have my list of gripes taken care of.

I was surprised that they ordered a new diff, that is not cheap to do. Heck, I never bought a V1 because I was worried about the diff. LOL

the vast majority of V1 owners have had no diff problems at all

Just got off the phone with the dealer. Everything has been fixed except the differential, as it was still in transit. We shall see tomorrow.

He said they took apart the rear shelf and quelled all the loose bits....I'm cautiously optimistic.

As for the rotors needing resurfaced, he said they did the rears and they will do the fronts if they notice any wobbling during braking after the test drive tomorrow. I'm sure there will be a lineup of techs to do the test drive, however, I was told only the Service Manager will drive it. I guess that's one of the perks of being manager. LOL

I'll know more tomorrow. Fingers crossed that the diff arrives soon.

Good luck and hope it is all resolved quickly to your satisfaction. Nice to hear the dealership is top notch.

For the marbles noise, you need a solid isolator for your supercharger. Yes, aftermarket, but it will get rid of the noise. Cadillac feels the noise is part of normal operation. Sure....but that noise sure was bothersome to a lot of people.

Glad most of your issues were resolved.
