I just purchased 305.30.19 PS2 rear tires but I didn't install yet. I didn't have plans to change my front tires at this time but if I can't install the 305 rears with the stock front tires, then I don't have a choice....I purchased the 305s because I'm looking for a little wider stance in the rear; however, I don't plan to lower the car.

1. Can I install the 305s and leave the stock front tires (255.40.19) for now? Or do I have to change to 265.35.19?

2. Is the larger wheel-well gap (285.35.19 now 305.30.19) a very big difference? I'd rather not lower my coupe, but I'll do it if the larger fender gap bothers me too much.

The sidewall difference between the 285/35/19 and 305/30/19 is about 1/3 of an inch. The diameter difference is a hair over 2/3 of an inch.

Stock, the rear gap is too big for me. With the lower, smaller 305s, it makes it worse; FOR ME.

This has been discussed many times before:

front stock diameter (255 40 19) = 27.03"
rear diameter (305 30 19) = 26.2"

No way would I do this. The looks would be poor IMHO.

I think the delta v between the stock front and the 305 rears would be too great and would screw with stabilitrack and such. This is what kept me from doing this until I'm ready to do my front tires as well.

I agree but I just want to see if it's possible.

I guess i'll do it right and i'll just get 265.35.19 front tires. I'm not sure if the larger wheel gap will bother me.
