The approximate location is 16 mile (big Beaver) & Woodward Avenue. NUTZ and a few other members from Cleveland stay at the Drury Inn, located 10 minutes from the Dream Cruise. The lot is packed with hot rods, huge burnouts and late night party's.

Randy - You can put me down as a tentative. My plan is to show up Friday evening and stay in Royal Oak with some old college buddies.Sounds great! Got you "penciled in."

Royal Oak is centered on the west side of Woodward and Twelve Mile Rd, so it's about four miles north to Woodward and Big Beaver Rd which is also 16 Mile Rd where we'll be. If you drive that route Saturday a little before noon, it'll take close to an hour on four-lane Woodward. Drive it at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon, and it'll take two hours. At 7 pm, forget it. IMHO, best bet is to drive up Saturday on the early side, then drive back to hang with your buddies before things get plugged up, otherwise you'll have to hang with us.

Wow, this thing is starting to really grow. The parking lot at Jason's employer will hold a couple of hundred cars, so there's no shortage of parking. Keep 'em coming!

What i know so far: cars cruise up a 16 mile strip and people hang out an watch them go by. There are also events going on the whole week before the cruise.
This will be my first trip out there and would love to hear more about it from the regulars.

The cars that cruise up and down Woodward consist of everything you can imagine. It's drive what you brung. Some stuff you can't believe they can legally drive on the roads. Hundreds of '60s muscle stuff plus late model stuff (like our Vs). Also, really old classic cars. You hear cars squealing their tires and you smell rubber, but the cops frown on it so watch out, and the cops are plentiful. Everything shuts down Saturday night around 10 pm (<-- check that Jason) especially in Royal Oak because the locals want to get some sleep after days and days of hearing cars going though their neighborhoods.

Where Jason's employer is, the crowds and density of cars is less ... the cars can actually move on Woodward at 16 Mile Road. We sit in some shade a few feet from Woodward right in front of a traffic light, so we egg on the cars to light 'em up, and they frequently do.

Oh, bring a folding lawn chair to sit on, too, so you don't have to sit in the lawn ... and, of course, the beverage of your choice.

We do a company lunch on Friday from 12-2p so I'm currently trying to get a tent lined up. I'll keep everyone posted.

Party signs sounds great!!! Remember that our software company is still open for business till 5:00p so any signage on Friday would have to be after that. Anything goes on Saturday/Sunday.

I have Friday afternoon off to start enjoying this event (beer and cigars) so I'll be there.

I'm down to chip in for whatever. I can paypal, or just have it Fri afternoon. Let me know who to see.

I know the intersection. But where do I pull in to the parking lot?

I'm planning on rolling into town about 3pm. But with a 640 mile trip and three teenagers.........

No need for paypal...

Address is 36800 Woodward Avenue, 48304. Use the Woodward Entrance just south of Big Beaver (16 mile). You will see a big white tent out front. Park in the back and just walk to the front.

... You will see a big white tent out front. Park in the back and just walk to the front. ...The parking lot will probably not be crowded at all. If you come from the Drury Inn, you'll approach Woodward while westbound on Big Beaver Rd ... it's about 3-1/2 miles from the Inn. You'll have to turn right onto Woodward and go through the median in order to go south on Woodward. Then, while going south, you'll have to pass the tent (which is on the opposite side of Woodward at that point) to go through the median (about 1/4 mile) again to go north then turn right on the driveway and under the overhang and into the rear parking lot. Just find a group of Vs and park next to 'em.

If you look at this link to google's maps and zoom in appropriately, it's the third building south of Big Beaver on the east side of Woodward. The driveway is on the south side of the building.

Consider it done! I will front the money myself to make things easier. Weather should be nice so I'm not too worried about it.

Any idea what time your planning on showing up on Friday at my place? We have a group of guys going in on Steak Filets from Costco if your interested. That will be dinner Friday evening.Should be at your place by 2pm. Count me in for Steak, and I can't immediately speak for my buds but they eat alot and aren't cheap, so maybe a few extra in the cooler might help.

Ha, I just saw your sig Randy. :frog:This is a better way to go. It's just that it's hard to see the correct driveway off Big Beaver. If you can find it, it's far better than going up then down then back up Woodward to the front driveway.

What time Saturday? What I've done in the past is start cruising at about 10 am on Woodward from the south end (I-96/Eleven Mile Rd) since that's the way I drive there and travel north the 5-1/2 miles or so to Jason's at Big Beaver Rd. It takes 45 minutes to an hour to go that distance and there's a TON of cars to look at. After, say, 1-2 pm on Saturday, it would take maybe two hours to go that same distance ... it's jammed with cars. Up north of Maple Rd (15 Mile Rd), it loosens up a bit as there are fewer traffic lights. There is still plenty of action at Jason's without the density of crowds.

A tent with tables and chairs? Fantastic!

On the news last night, they showed a bunch of people sitting in lawn chairs lining Woodward, I think near about 13 Mile Rd. I thought it was from last year's Dream Cruise, but it was a live newscast. The weather was probably a part of it ... it was like 82 deg with virtually no wind. Perfect for sitting outside.

Stopped by about an hour ago (pretty much live across Woodward from the M-B dealership) but didn't see many Vs in the lot -- I assumed everyone was out on the strip! Saw an Evolution Green V2 coupe with gunmetal rims/yellow calipers in the lot, not sure whose it was, but it looked phenomenal.

Hopefully i'll be joining you all next year; I need to pick up a V1 first!

In one of the lots south of the M-B lot, there was a black Maggied first-gen V with gunmetal 19" six-spoke rims that was hanging out with a yellow GTO and a couple other high-zoot cars... Did anyone else see that car? I'm curious if it's owned by someone on here, I want to know the brand of the rims.

Torxilla's efforts got us a great banner to announce who we were.

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr189/rand49er/DSC_0584.jpg

Because of a huge, police-escorted Chevy club using the parking lot behind the building, we were relegated to using the driveways to park.

I'm not going to recall everyone's car, but I'll put down a few names where I can.

GMBound's car was really clean ... as usual.

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr189/rand49er/DSC_0583.jpg

Nutz' V2 looks none the worse for wear after doing some impromptu drifting in the rear parking lot the night before. His license plate says it all: 605HP.

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr189/rand49er/DSC_0582.jpg

Marvin came all the way from St. Louis with his XLR-V. Is it modded? Oh, yeah!

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr189/rand49er/DSC_0581.jpg

I missed MescalVto's car and PISNUOFF's car and probably a couple more. All in all a decent turnout for V-Series Cadillacs.

This '60s Chevelle with a 572 big block fried a couple of fuses, and despite Nutz' and Den_93's best efforts, we ended up pushing this guy out to the back parking lot where a tow truck had to take him and his two lady friends home.

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr189/rand49er/DSC_0604.jpg

JD03Cobra did most of the cooking, and everyone lined up for burgers, brats, and a variety of side dishes.

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr189/rand49er/DSC_0607.jpg

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr189/rand49er/DSC_0584.jpg ^ This happened to be the banner that I made but Torxilla brought a VERY cool V logo banner also that can be seen in pics a few replies above. I must extend a truckload of gratitude to Jason, Steve, and Michelle for once again throwing the best social Cadillac owners party that I have seen since my registration to this forum! I'm talking steaks, burgers, dogs, and all the side dishes were awesome. The Cleveland crowd owes you a big thanks. And thanks to all of you great people for your interesting conversation and to all that have taken the many hundreds of pics. This years gathering showed growth and success that will make it the one to see next year for those that couldn't make it this year. Thank you Torxilla! Great to meet you in person GizmoQ! I think I could write a small book about this weekend describing everything from my Michelin parking lot repaving, to our hotel security guard and general manager having a tire cook-off competition, to the heckling fun we had all weekend at a traffic light, to a fantastic finish at Hambos Breakfast Cafe near Mustang Alley Sunday morning to dethrone Bob Evans, etc......... Mark your calendars next year folks, you might wanna see what next year has to offer.

Wow guys thanks a ton!!! It's truely an honor to host this event for everyone. While the Dream Cruise is a great time, hanging out with a bunch of proud Cadillac V owners and their family members really makes this event special for me.

Jim, Gus, Jayson, Chuck and the rest of the Cleveland group never disappoint!!! What a great group of guys. I just can't say enough about them...They roll with big Detroit power and everyone is proud of it! A fantastic show in the parking lot with Jim's drifting skills and handful of burnouts...I'll be smiling all the way into work monday morning. A big thanks to these guys and of course Jim for the banner and cool signs!!!

George - (Torxilla) Thanks again for the cool banners, V pictures & Cadillac key chains for everyone! Plus the food...Please tell your wife she did an amazing job on those cookies!!!

Randy - Taking your V for a ride probably wasn't the best thing for my check book...LS9 clutch with a maggie was awesome!

Of course Twitch coming all the way from New York, GizmoQ from St. Louis and PISNUOFF from Ohio it was a great meeting you guys!!

Last but not least our local Detroit area V group...Randy, Big Ron, Den_93, ronr, GMBound, etc...thanks for coming out and bringing friends/family. It's always a pleasure.

This is the 3rd year doing this and it gets bigger and better every year! Plan on coming next year!

Thank you Jason for hosting this bash and to you and Steve for grilling all the grub. Now that I see we also had access to power, Gloria says she'll make her special (crock pot) "Montgomery Inn" baked beans next year. Maybe a few racks of "Baby Backs" (In-mah-belly)as well.

I'd also like to thank John Kraemer (V Series Racing Manager) for the freebies and the big "V" banner.
I met a few of the guys, but like Randy (BTW, Thanks for the Valet Parking, greatly appreciated) said we need a list of all the guys with names, screen names, car specs, email etc to help get the word out about more events or just meet and greets etc.

John Kraemer the V racing manager said he'd like to get a grass roots thing going for ALL V cars to take advantage of Cadillac's clinics/events and hospitality etc.

If anyone is interested, I'll start a simple spreadsheet and share it with whoever gives me their info. Shoot me an email at ggray@stakindustries.com

We had a great time, thank you all.

I came up to Auburn Hills to hang with my Impala SS buddies for a national event and was stoked to hear you's guys were hangin' on Woodward. Immediately jumped in the car and went looking for the clan and foundja. Sorry I couldn't hang too long. I had to get back to the Impala BBQ before those slobs ate all the ribs. It was great seeing a few of you before I had to ride out.

My Impala friends were kind enough to let the V particpate in all the racing events (my Impala is in the shop in itty bitty pieces for a rebuild) and I had a blast. We did drag racing @ Milan, autocross at a nearby lot and road racing @ Waterford Hills. The road course was a great little technical track and once I got all the late apex's figured out the V was flyin' off the top of the hill. Ran some very competetive times against the more experienced and more powerful race prepped Impy's. I'll post up some links once the thousands of pics and hundreds of vids are posted.

The folks at Waterford were great and we got a helluva deal on the place for the day which included emergency and track folks so we could concentrate on having fun. The track is fairly small. Only one I've ever run where you could climb the tower and see the whole track. Ran the track in 3rd gear hitting 6K rpm at the 100' braking mark on the straight. Without gear changes it sure is easier to concentrate on placement. VERY late apexes. Every single one. There is a hill on the front side that was really a hoot. Was catching air regularly all afternoon. All my ride-along passengers loved it.

Here's some more stuff to waste time watching:

the cruise-in on Woodward was incredible. One of EVERY car EVER made and some you never dreamed of. Complete automotive sensory overload.

A little walk around video of our parking area on Woodward. The local club set us up with a great place to park AND BBQ!

Burnouts in the street that was in front of our parking area. We (with help from some others that just got in the "burn out line") really left some marks behind.

Hell, four of us started an SS "anti-club" (no officers, run by the members) on a lark a few years ago and it has turned into a national group with 14 chapters so far and still growing. There are quite a few of these cars still running around in spite of the cars for cash fiasco.
