I can smell the success of this series just from the trailer itself.... Forget that top gear USA and lets build a genuine show for ourselves!

I hope Adam Carolla has improved since the time I saw him and his dunce sidekick do a review of Adam's personal Lamborghini 350 GT. Both these guys were lame in the extreme, with Adam Carolla not knowing even some basic facts about his own Lamborghini. I find his personality to be vapid (that's the most complimentary I can say) and his car knowledge sophomoric. I don't know who found and promoted this jerk, but if Adam Carolla is any example of his generation's entertainment abilities we all should go back to watching cartoons!

That being said I will be watching, and hoping things have improved, tonight.

If you want to take a look at Carolla's Lamborghini 350 GT piece it's at: adamcarolla.com 350 Lamborghini 350 GT

Adam is hilarious! I read a few books of his and really understand where he's coming from. I'll be watching the premiere tonight.

Watching it now! Enjoying it more than I did Top Gear US. The crew gets along much better and the show it's self flows along much smoother.

Show sucked and was boring. Sorry.

Not bad! [And far from great.]

The dialogue was a bit dry but by the end of the episode, the foursome developed some chemistry and character distinction.

Dan Neil is the snob with brains.
Matt Farah is the gearhead critic.
Adam Carolla brings comic relief and mechanical know-how.
John Salley, a Corolla owner who thinks leather seats should be banned, represents the average American motorist.

Part 1:
Matt Farah’s commentary on the Porsche 911 GT3 was summed up by a single, moronic declaration: “It feels like driving a RACE CAR!”

Come on, really? What else did we think it was going to feel like? A Buick Lesabre?

Part 2:
The foursome participated in the 24 hours of Lemons with a 1994 Nissan 300ZX 2+2, fizzling out early when the car caught fire. They demonstrated a grasp of physical comedy but the scene was ruined by bland, lifeless background music that apparently came from a collection of royalty-free, computer-generated hard rock. It may as well have been porno music.

Part 3:
They quizzed Dan Neil and two audience members using a game show format. The trivia questions were interesting but the segment was a bust.

The interview with Nascar driver Jimmy Johnson was unexpectedly well-paced and engaging.

Part 4:
Dan Neil has grown on me — his pompous attitude reminds me of Automobile Magazine writer Jamie Kitman, known for his quality writing and obnoxious liberal views. I cringe when Kitman opines, but I admire his writing. Likewise, Dan comes across as smug, but he presents well on television.

Adam Carolla’s inappropriate comments work well with Dan Neil’s suit-and-tie professionalism, as demonstrated by the drive along Pebble Beach with Neil piloting a Rolls Royce Ghost and Carolla in the back eating fast food. The dialogue needed some work, but the sentiment of comedy was there.

The segment at the end about meter maids was too short to be interesting and too long to be funny.

I see more potential for growth and improvement on this show than I do for Top Gear USA. The hosts (well, perhaps just Neil and Carolla) are confident about their roles and the perspectives they represent, and both of them are walking tomes of automotive knowledge. The background music, however, is unfortunate, and the cinematography needs refinement.

I will continue watching.

I'm just tired of mental midgets pretending to being entertaining while really just verbally masterbating at the audiences expense!

Top Gear US is SHIT SHIT compared to Top Gear UK.

Top Gear UK has the benefit of having 17 seasons to develop their chemistry and groove. Top Gear UK season 1 makes Top Gear USA look like a masterpiece. Give it time.

it wasnt terrible, it wasnt TGUS terrible. the jokes were just kinda corny. the show itself isnt bad though

i kinda like that the basketball player guy likes no frills cars, as long as he's still a car guy and knows somethin about cars.

if hes into corollas AND doesnt know jack squat about cars, then he doesnt belong on the show, If hes into corollas because theyre new with a warranty, which frees up his time for his classics, then thats cool

Adam Corolla irritates me... True, I will give Top Gear USA some time... Lol. Leather seats have their place. They have their pros and cons, just like cloth. Leather seats are a bitch in the summer and deep winter, but at least they can be heated and cooled. I have never seen heated or ventilated cloth seats.

Stingroo

1993-1996 Fleetwood Broughams could be had with heated cloth seats.

Your move, Washington.

I didn't know that. Hm. It would be a shame to have a Cadillac with cloth seats... Leather is simply better looking and requires a higher level of workmanship. It is also easier to clean. Leather seats are like any feature. Completely subjective.

The cloth seats in my '95 Deville were one of my favorite things about it. Soft and comfy at all temps, ages well, low maintenance provided you aren't a slob and stain them with fast food grease, donut jelly, or ice cream. I really don't care for the leather I had in my '92 and current '90.

That era of leather seats was the plush pillow-looking ones, right? Those are so much fun to look at... Lol

Jesda

I like both cloth and leather. I think it depends on the car and the quality of cloth or leather.

Volkswagens have nice cloth. Toyotas don't.
Lexuses have nice leather. Chryslers don't.

I usually prefer leather because my shirt is less likely to bunch up on my back during a road trip, and its nice to slide around and smell soft leather. But, high-quality cloth would be perfectly fine.

I had those. the plush pillow seats are comfy but have no support, are a PITA to clean, and bake your ass and back and legs in the summer. what annoyed me the most was that the headrests were off center of the drivers and pass. seat. my head was always at the end of the headrest. I will say those are the second most comfortable seats I have ever sat in though and that they make an awesome couch in my basement. leather bravada buckets FTW

Obviously you have never encountered high quality cloth seats!

I got through 2 segments of the car show. Adam corolla gets on my nerves with his lame attempt at making a car show into his own personal comedy hour. I have no idea what the guy with the corolla is doing there (since he really doesnt add anything) but I'd much rather have the guy who owns a corolla be there than adam corolla.
Segment 1 was awful. I didnt find any of the jokes funny and the topics made me go WTF.
Segment 2 was drawn out and boring. why did they need to show adam corolla sleeping? they showed more goofing around than actual racing.

Someone is convinced Adam Carolla is funny, or at least pertinent! The British guys on "Top Gear" are overly impressed with their own attempts at humor, but Carolla and his ilk must tickle the fancy of our lowest denominator. I prefer my car shows with more information and less attempt at cheesy humor!

British humor is very... different. Most people don't get it fully, so they bash it. Lots of ridiculous subtleties. I love it. Haha
