Before I ordered mine, my dealership in San Antonio did a search for an M6 wagon. There was one, yes one, in the US. From what I've read these are basically being made to order. I didn't look for an auto as that was a deal breaker to me.

Yeah buying in CA sucks since I have to pay their tax which is more then TX's.... (unless you know some other way)

You only have to pay the tax in the state you register the car in.

Don't you pay tax based on where you register?

Sarant might be out of V's. Was just there 20 minutes ago, they have none on the showroom and none visible on the lot. They used to have a gorgeous black diamond wagon but that dealership moves V's at a pretty good rate. They are probably sold out for the year.

And yes, if you buy the car out of state you will pay the taxes at the DMV when you go to register it. That's what i did.

except cali. You can't leave the dealership with the car unless you pay the tax. Trust me I tried when I bought my S5. The only way is to take ownership of the car outside of cali. People where going out of state to pick up the cars instead of buying in cali and so they did away with that and now you have to pay it.

I'd like to know how you did that in CA, I tried to when I bought my S5 since I knew I was moving and wouldn't use the full year in cali at all, that's where they told me it doesn't matter, in CA you have to pay it then and there. If there are ways around it I'd love to know since I have found some sweet deals there, but the tax just pisses me off, not paying 11% tax

There is a way to do it. My uncle bought a vehicle from CA and had it transported back to Arkansas. He didn't have to pay CA taxes. Here is what you have to do.

See page 6-30 section 6.105 of the CA DMV pdf here

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/reg_hdbk_pdf/ch6_new_vehicles_sold_by_california_dealers.pdf

(http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/reg_hdbk_pdf/ch6_new_vehicles_sold_by_california_dealers.pdf)Yo u must obtain a REG 402 "One trip permit" at a cost of $18. You can drive it out of state or have it transported when getting that permit.

Nice, I knew there was a way, the audi said I had to pay them 800 to have it transported to AZ, lol yeah right! :)

Thanks caddy, I'll keep that in mind.

I had bought a car in Spring Hill,TN (PEP Car) and I had to pay TN tax at the dealership which they turned around and cut me a check back for the TN sales tax after the paper work was signed?!!?, then I had to actually pay it in MI when I registered the vehicle.

True if you pick it up in CA. If the dealer will allow a courtesy delivery to another dealer in another state you don't have to pay CA tax.
