The 1966 has a constant speed front universal joint. If the centre ball gets worn, They can cause a clicking sound. There is usually a vibration associated with this kind of wear but not always. If i remember correctly the constant velocity joint on the 66 is not rebuild able with respect to the centre ball. You can however substitute a 67 or 68 (do not remember which) drive shaft and this is rebuild able. Take along a tape measure if you go to the salvage yard looking for a replacement. I found this out the hard way when the joint let go while travelling. I had to rebuild it on the road and had to use the newer shaft to get the job done. Good luck.
