What do you think? BeelzeBob 08-16-03, 10:24 AM I'm going to do a carfax right now... toomanytoyz 08-16-03, 10:26 AM Looks good! Good luck.
Don't see too many gold ones around. :) BeelzeBob 08-16-03, 10:34 AM Hmm. Here's the CarFax.. It was a Fleet Vehicle.. Should I stay away?
http://www.carfax.com/cfm/FSBO.cfm?report=CFX000004680080 BeelzeBob 08-16-03, 10:38 AM Oh and the color is Champaign.. BeelzeBob 08-16-03, 12:24 PM Uhh.. I'm leaving in a little while. :( Any input? Mad'lac 08-16-03, 12:33 PM Where is Katshot when we need him? :annoyed: It might be a good car even if its a fleet car. I mean you'd think they would keep the maint. pretty tight on them. How much they asking for it? BeelzeBob 08-16-03, 12:34 PM A tiny bit of good news - to me anyway - is that the dealer's inventory is just about all high-line luxury vehicles. Besides a few Volkswagens, it's mostly Audi's, Mercedes, BMW's, Porsche's, Lexus' and Acura's.. Maybe an Infiniti or two in there as well... BeelzeBob 08-16-03, 12:35 PM They're asking $6900.00 - and they said they're a little negotiable on the price.. It was originally $7500.00 but I don't think anyone who goes in there is looking at a Cadillac. It's an import dealer... HotRodSaint 08-16-03, 12:39 PM Uhh.. I'm leaving in a little while. :( Any input?
Have you seen it? The pictures aren't that great. Hard to tell what condition it's in.
The price is priced at high Bluebook for a car in 'good' condition.
Fleet in this case might just mean it was a lease company that owned it and leased it someone. It does have 'low' mileage for a fleet car. It is spot on for a 12000 per year lease contract.
Plus it's the wrong color and trim package for a fleet car. If it was a livery vehicle, then don't you have to place a sticker or plate somewhere to drive in NYC? There should be evidence of that. Also the rear seat would have just as much wear as the driver.
Take a look, if it's in decent condition, offer him six grand and play hard ball. Thats probably 750 more than he paid for it.
Look underneath the car at the frame! If there is any rust, run don't walk to the nearest exit.
My personal opinion is that black interiors seem to maintain a quality look to them while the other colors seem to look worn with age. It might be just that the other colors vary in color to much from the carpet to the seats to the dash to the headliner. Take it home today for 6500 if it's good. BeelzeBob 08-16-03, 12:42 PM Thanks for the advice and information on that probably lease.. I will definitely be looking for rust on the frame.. I hope this all works out for me. I'm REALLY itchy to get back into a Caddy again... To me, this is the King of Cadillacs. :p I hope I like it... BeelzeBob 08-16-03, 12:47 PM I wonder if it's a sign of good luck being that I withdrew $5995.00 from my savings account and actually received $6095.00. :p BeelzeBob 08-16-03, 01:09 PM Here's a few bad pictures:

Isn't "Champaign" a luxurious name for "gold"? ;)
Seriously though, looks like things are lining up nicely for you and this car... Now you can actually pay 100 bucks more than you were willing to and not have to bugdge from your set limits because you got a freebie at the bank. ;)
I hope it works out for you! We need more people in the yacht club. ;) BeelzeBob 08-16-03, 01:22 PM Thanks.. Do you think Gold will look ugly?
I should have left by now. My girlfriend is late getting home... toomanytoyz 08-16-03, 01:33 PM Thanks.. Do you think Gold will look ugly?

Actually, my favorite FW (aside from mine ;) ) is Dan Sorenson's gold Fleetwood SS. It's a 94 with a landau roof and it just looks killer. They just look "right" that color on wires with nice white walls...
So yeah, I say gold is my next favorite color on a FW... Not to mention how much easier they are to keep clean! :D BeelzeBob 08-16-03, 01:35 PM Great! Okay. I'm off! I'll let you know what happens as soon as I get back... toomanytoyz 08-16-03, 01:36 PM Here's a couple pics of Dan's:

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :bouncy: :bouncy:  BeelzeBob 08-16-03, 08:47 PM Okay. It didn't happen. I could have driven it off the lot for $6k, but.. It had an exhaust leak. It sound like it was coming from underneath the middle of the car somewhere. The power antenna didn't work - it was stuck up.. Some of the moldings were bearly holding on. There was a pretty decent sized dent on the passenger back on the bottom where the chrome is.. There was a pretty big, deep scratch about a foot long on the passenger side front fender..
The interior was really nice.. The car is really damn comfortable. It was my first ride in one of these things. It was plenty powerful. VERY hard to control - I might add, though. If I ever need to "get away" or catch somebody, it wouldn't happen... But very, very nice... The interior was practically perfect..
Anyway. The battery was dead when I got there. It was pretty dirty.. I would have taken it for $5k but that's about it. I think I can do better for $6k. Maybe in a week or so I'll be able to come up with $7k... the Sandman 08-16-03, 09:14 PM Too bad, Sal. Definitely not "the one".
I did manage to get the footage from the security camera in the manager's office from right after you left - click here. (http://www.fanta.dk/showmovie.asp?mid=EA8D60D7-A564-453C-9F98-A1789BCFBE88) JerseyGirl 08-16-03, 09:53 PM Too bad, Sal. Definitely not "the one".

AT least you have the restraint to make a good decision though! :D
You'll find the right one. Just keep looking....
Also, FYI, the clips for the ss trim aren't all that epensive from the dealer. Only a couple bucks a piece. (ask me how I know ;) ) BeelzeBob 08-17-03, 10:56 AM Thanks all. There was also a hole in the top of the passenger side headlight. There was no CD player or changer either... MMNineInchNails 08-17-03, 12:37 PM Too bad it wasn't just an exhaust leak or else you could have put on some flow bastards. Stupid car having too many problems. I'm not even sure $5K would have been a fair price based on what you said. You did the right thing moving on. Just like with women, you have to be patient until the right one comes along. |
