Auto guys, what kind of trans temps do you guys see on a regular basis? Also what about the guys with trans coolers? I'm seeing 180 degree's on the street on a normal basis, considering a trans cooler.

If you're handy with some tools you can DIY for $300

180 is the minimum you want. Why do you want it cooler than that anyway?

Too cool is almost as bad as too hot. Too cool won't allow moisture and contaminates to boil? off. It is good to keep the trans at 180 ish. What does it go up to if you beat on it for a while in the hot temps? That is what I would be worried about. If it goes beyond 210, I would strongly consider a cooler. Best would be a cooler with a t-stat in it.

I have not beat on mine excessively as I just turned 1K and we have not exactly had a hot spring.

Well said. Dexron VI, the fluid, approaches a synthetic anyway. I won't really worry myself unless it's over 250 and climbing. The highest I've seen was only 260, after tracking the heck out of it in the 100s in Nebraska. It was so hot out, I got sick of driving it!
