I'm trying to determine what color code my interior is, as I have a cracked dash pad in my 1980 Coupe DeVille. I found a crack free one at the boneyard, but it is a much lighter shade of red, where as mine is a dark burgundy, or even a maroon. I wanted to eother dye it to match, or maybe even try some of the aerosol paint offered by companies like Eastwood or something. Also, any help finding my paint/dye would be greatly appreciated...
I can't remember for sure, but I think they were still using data plates in 1980. They're located on the firewall on the driver's side of the car. On the second line on the left side of the plate is the trim code, which denotes the interior color and style. All the other colors used on the interior relate to that code, and the color codes for them can be found in the salesman's data book for your year. Those are readily available on ebay for usually around $50, and they provide a wealth of information about your car.

I need a bright red uncracked dashpad for an '80 CDV. Where's this yard?! :D
And yes 1980 does have data-plate.
