I'm just a proud owner of a 69 Caddy Deville Convertible.Going to add to my Dukes of Hazzard Collection.

A good friend has got the pump going but it needs oil.

1) What kind of oil and there is a plug in the bottom??

2) Do we need to take the entire pump out from back seat(not fun) or can we just add oil to pump from bottom.

Thanks
Rob

Regular ATF transmission fluid goes in the pump. There is a drain plug on the reservoir but its not "on the bottom". Its on the end above the middle of the reservoir. Its a rubber plug that fits into a filler hole. The instructions for filling and bleeding the reservoir are pretty straight forward, but, they require fabricating a special "filler plug" if you want to follow the instructions verbatim. If there is no fluid in the system (lines, cylinders, reservoir), you might want to follow those instructions because more fluid will be required to raise/lower the top than the reservoir will be able to initially supply.

In the factory service manual, and the Fisher Body manual. If I can find it, I will scan it.

Hey Jay, has it been as stinking hot out your way as it is in Hamilgrad?

If anyone has actually filled the pump, what size hose is needed for filler?

Thanks
