: What's your favorite color for a car?

If I look back over the years I can see that I have definitely favored "red" for the colors of my cars. Maybe it is they type of cars I have chosen for personal use, or maybe it is just because I am naturally drawn to red when applied to a car. I have had many other colors too, some from choice others from that was the color a particular car that I wanted happened to be in.

Other colors that I really like, but have just not found their way onto one of my cars. Navy blue comes to mind, I really like cars in this color, but having a good part of my life in Southern California dark colors to more heat reflective colors. I did learn of the dirt defeating Audi color "Gobi Tan;" this color didn't show the dirt, but then again always looked sort of dirty even though it had just been washed!

White, hands down. Always looks clean (even when dirty).

Depends on the car, but usually black.

I've always been a fan of reds and dark blue. BMW's Imola Red and Interlagos Blue for example.

Without a doubt it would have to be Red, followed by White, followed by Black.

Of the BMW colors DEFINITELY Imola Red and Laguna Seca Blue.

Emerald Green Metallic (1965 Chevelle) over a coffee/camel interior.

The Cadillac Polo Green is a few shades darker.

Hearses are black.

For me it all depends on what kind of car I'm looking at. For example, Seville's look best in White Diamond, Crimson Red, Polo Green, and Onyx Black. Of all those, my favorite color is Polo Green for that car. I've noticed that I'm a huge fan of red cars, mainly Cadillac's Infared and Crystal Red Metallic. Blue is also a favorite of mine. Prelude's have a beautiful shade of Electron Blue, while BMW's light colored blues are gorgeous. Not sure of the color, but it's darker than Laguna Seca Blue but it's not dark blue.

It depends on the car. As an example an orange Seville should look awful. But I won't mind to drive an orange Challenger!

Overall, I try to keep a distance from colors like yellow, green or blue. There are some standard generic colors like Silver or grey, and they are always acceptable for any car. No one hates these colors, however very few people really fall in love with such generic colors.

I really like white Diamond or black on a Cadillac.

Actually, you're probably thinking lighter still, which would have been the color of our X5 4.6iS... Estoril Blue.

dont post this in the SRX forum, i got flamed for it.

Apparently silver is the best color ever and all hot rod builders and car customizers and car enthusiasts choose silver first. As opposed to being popular because its "safe".

on the other hand i may have provoked it by calling it a color for people who just want a car, any car

If I was to ever buy a BMW (which could possibly happen in my future), then I'd want one in that color. It would have to be a 3-Series coupe too.

Red.

Some cars look better in a medium shade, some cars look better in bright and some cars look best in maroon. I can't think of many cars that don't look good in a shade of red.

Off the top of my head, one of my favorite shades of red would be Honda's San Marino red. IDK how long it was offered, but it looks gorgeous on the 98-02 Honda Accord Coupes.

Otherwise I'm a fan of Dark blues as well. Everything else is OK but nothing I'd order on a brand new car. My least favorite colors are greens (except Polo on Cadillacs and British racing green) and silvers (so bland IMO).

As Mick Jagger said: "Paint it black". My favorite non-color but the worst to keep up with. I like all the non-colors. White, gray, silver, charcoal and black. This can be witnessed on all my current cars. My Ram is silver, the XJ8 is silver, my Escort ZX2 is silver, my '67 cutlass is "Dark Shadow Grey" and my E250 is black. :cool2:

I tend to like dark colors on a car: dark blue, dark red, dark brown. White reminds me of kitchen or bathroom fixtures. Black is ok, but only on certain cars. Silver is meh.

On the other hand, I prefer a light colored interior.

I prefer GM's 70's metallic green/ blue. IIRC it was a dark teal with green metalflake in it. in the day it looked metallic green. at night it looked pitch black, and at night under light it looked dark blue.
I'm also a fan of metallic burgundy on 4 door luxury sedans. especially cadillacs and buicks.
I also like the firemist orange and firemist burgundy cadillac used in the 70's and 80's. they're like metallic on steroids.

I like a nice white on most cars, although the Balboa Blue on my Coupe DeVille is gorgeous, and I really liked the Polo Green that was on my old Eldorado. I'm attracted to brightly colored vehicles, black on some, and silver almost NEVER. Silver is so meh on almost anything. No thanks. I miss the "high impact hues" that could be had on old Mopar stuff. (Yes, secret "Plum Crazy Purple" admirer here.)

I loved the Sapphire Blue Firemist on Cruella (and it still sparkles after 20 years), and I love the White Diamond on Sabrina. Cadillac offered Blue Diamond on the CTS, but I don't know if I've actually seen one in that color, so I doubt I'll be able to find one when I'm ready to buy. I'm normally not a big fan of red, the the Crystal Red on the CTS is stunning. That would be my top choice, then White Diamond when I buy one. Chevrolet's LeMans Blue and Marina blue on Corvettes are also gorgeous colors.

Black cars look great when they're clean. That lasts a day if you're lucky.

I can honestly say I have no favorite car color. Depends on the car as to which color I like. I generally do prefer darker shades, especially on old cars with lots of chrome. Black, navy blue, burgandy, dark green, dark grey, all of those really pop on a car with a lot of chrome trim. On muscle cars and sports cars, the wilder the paint, the better. Chrome yellow, metallic orange, plum crazy purple, hugger orange, Porsche Guards red, panther pink, all great colors.

I'm generally not a fan of white or silver, but even those can look great on the right cars. The convertible Z28 looked great in white because it had black badges and a black top that contrasted nicely with the white paint.

I'm not a big fan of brown, tan, or these new brownish-greyish silverish crap colors they are painting cars now days. I don't want my car to be the same color as the dirt that's on it.

I've also found that after owning two navy blue cars, they aren't hard to keep clean if you keep them waxed and use a california car duster on them once every day between washes.

I've always leaned towards greens. Cadillac Greenbrier Firemist and Kingswood Green as well as Thunderbird Dark Jade Starfire and Medium Jade are the ones I really like followed by Dunbarton Green and Galloway Green Firemist, Thunderbird Diamond Jubilee Green and Light Jade Glow. My 80 FWB Coupe was Princess Green and one of my 76 Tbirds was Medium Jade.

If none of these are available a deep blue or dark red such as Claret would do.

...............BUT white and silver or silver/gray cars are the easiest to "keep clean".

Black interiors will show every speck of dust in any light.

The flat surfaces of a black (or dark color) car in an unshaded parking lot in June will fry an egg.

Yeah but the individual package adds cost and rarity whereas Estoril/Imola/Black and Silver were just factory delivered colors on the 4.6iS... It's highly unlikely I'd find a 335i in Estoril Blue on the used market that was reasonably priced.

Black, Black and Black. Only 2 cars I have ever owned were not black and thats just because I didnt want to wait for them to find them in Black. VW's are the exception for me, virtually every model looks best in white.

A CTS V Coupe in DSOM would be BEAUTIFUL!!

Ferraris and Ducatis should only come in RED.

Purple? If its not an early 70's Mopar it should be crushed.

Ugh, so tired of black cars. The best black car is the one someone ELSE owns. The Escalade (and the LS430 before it) show every little nick, imperfection, swirl and even particles of dust like no other. At this point, I'd rather just have white.
