The chrome housing on my left rear tailight has seen better days, 80 cdv.,
I read awhile back the years that are the same, but now forget, I assume
they would be 80-92, is this correct ?. How much of a job is this?.

actually '80-'90. 91 and 92 (the euro styled broughams) had different housings (lens openings were different sizes)
as for how hard- unless you are missing the filler piece, you will have to remove the rear bumper. if you are missing the filler piece, the bolts are exposed.
you will need to remove the taillights and get the light harness out of the way of the bumper end. I would highly recommend having a friend to help you remove the bumper safely. there should be 8 bolts if you want to take the bumper itself off the shocks its mounted to (4 per side). as for the light housing (the chrome "tailfin") there are 2 bolts (IIRC) that hold it on to the main bumper. liquid wrench or similar product will come in handy as well.

The 80 - 81 tail light housing mounts are the same. 82 onwards mount to the bumper bar differently. They are not easily interchangeable but it can be done. I have a spare set of 87 housings if you need them, they could be used on an 1980 car.
