Greetings! I'm new to this forum, although my son, Ben (Benzilla) has been
a member for quite some time. I more or less inherited his 1979 red Coupe Deville which he purchased in 2007. He literally saved it from being used in
a demolition derby. The car has been a work in progess ever since. I just
got it out of the repair shop where it spent a month getting a whole new
ignition system, new carburator, lights working, & a new muffler and rear exhaust system. Then I put on a new set of tires. It runs like a charm now,
however I am having problems with the windshield washer system not working
which I will explain under a separate post. This is just to say "hello" and looking
forward to interacting with other proud Cadillac owners! Thanks, Dale.

LOL When I read your first line I thought is this my father that has given up driving stupid cars and purchased a Cadillac!? But that hope lasted for just one moment and then died when I realized you are Benzilla's father! :D

Any way, hello and welcome to the forum! :D

Hey! We met a few years back - I drove the '89 Brougham up that Ben bought from me. Tell him to come back and update us on the Brougham and Phaeton!

I used to have a '79 Sedan DeVille d'Elegance. When you push the wash button, do the wipers move? If so, then the electrical portion works, and you most likely need to rebuild the washer pump on the wiper motor. Cheap and easy, kits are on ebay should be same for many of the old GM cars.
