I'm looking at a car to buy, the owner said the car sucks up oil like no tomorrow but there's no puddle under it, no smoke. We started it and it still purrs. Any ideas, we're going to look at it again.
Also, what's a car to rob a tranny from, usual suspects the caprice and roadmaster, any others?

Some people have different definitions of a bad leak. It's normal to loose a quart every two thousand miles (due to blow by the rings), and some people might find that excessive. So have the owner explain how much oil the engine uses. It could be leaking at the valve covers and only drips when the engine is running, which would eliminate the puddle. Another possibility is that the oil is leaking into the combustion chamber, which dose not always cause noticeable amounts of smoke.
The transmission can come from most Chevrolet/GMC Rear Wheel Drive, two wheel drive vehicles, with a Chevrolet 8 cylinder, made between 1982 and 1993. Most Trucks and SUV's made in 1993 had the computer controlled version of your transmission, but RWD passenger cars maintained the non-computer controlled transmission.

93 FWB? Check the rear of the intake manifold. Common. My wagon does it.
