: Black on Black Diamond

Just got my car back from the paint shop. I had the grills, fog light rings, hood trim, side vents, badges, door trim, license plate trim, and exhaust tips/mufflers painted flat black. I also had the rear CTS badge removed and the lights and markers smoked.

To complete the look, I ordered the D3 carbon fiber blade spoiler and I am going to get the windows tinted.

Don't mind the iPhone pics....I'll take better pictures with my DSLR soon.

looks good...thanks for posting...id like to see a black diamond with a matching "satin graphite" or gunmetal painted trim to match the wheels. Just me though.

Interesting. I didn't think I would like it from just your description but it works. Looks good. That paint color is amazing. Wow.

Here are some pics taken with a real camera...and yes I know it needs to be washed. I'll take some at a picturesque spot after the windows are tinted.

Looking good man. I'm going to paint my grills black but leave the chrome ring around them first and see how I like that. On my white I had the whole thing painted but on the BD I don't think I want it all blacked out even though I'm not a chrome fan. Decisions decisions

How did you tint the tails/headlights , side markers? Nightshade spary stuff or autobody shop do them?
I cannot get a single autobody shop in town willing to spray tint tail lights or anything of the sort (legal reasons with having tinted out tail lights etc.), and I do not want to do it myslef as I am sure it would come out crappy using Nightshade spray tint. I guess if you take your time and wet sand / polish correctly and spray on clear after it shouldn't be to bad?

Autobody shop did them so I'm not sure exactly how he did it. This guy specializes in lights. I think just the rear lights/markers were about $120.

Take a road trip out here to Vegas and I'll get you hooked up.

You can also have them covered in a tinted material like a clear bra. The company that did my clear bra does this also.

that looks great, how well do you think the black will stick to the chrome over time? my fear would be that it would chip off from road debris or just general use.

I would love to black most of my trim out, I think on silver it would look hot.

From my understanding he sanded the chrome pieces so that the paint would make a good bond. Only time will tell how it holds up to impacts and such and I'll report any changes in it as I see them.

That's because they were, lol. I had just come home from the paint shop and wanted to make sure the paint had cured before I messed with it.

As it stands now, I think I'm going to try and get new crests and have them smoked like the headlamps instead of totally blacked out like you see it now.

Here are some quick iPhone pics after bringing it home from tint. And I know it needs a wash, wax, and the tires cleaned up.
