What's new with me?

Long story short, I moved back to South Dakota, I am renting a farm house while I search for property. I have a great new job and I love it out here.
The farm:

Today I spent about an hour watching a severe storm forming to the west of me. It was pretty cool I think.

I am from MN, Born and raised just north of Minneapolis (Wyoming MN to be exact). I know and have partaken in the prejudice towards cheeseheads. I do happen to love SoDak as I love the summers out here and the fall for hunting. I have lived out here through three winters including the tail end of this one that never ends. Everyone in Minnesota who thinks going to St. Cloud is traveling thinks the weather out here is like the Arctic circle or something. I have news for you, the weather is pretty much the same, cold miserable and lasts for the rest of your life (I am less than 30 miles from MN). I like Minnesota, but South Dakota just offers me more with less taxes and less salt used on the highway.

Good to hear from you John! How many acres on the farmstead? I've never been to South Dakota, but spent much time at my great uncle's farm near Jamestown North Dakota when I was a child. I always loved going up there!

This farm is 400 Acres. He tells me in total he owns about 3500 acres. He is a big time Angus farmer here.

Nice looking country out there. Not my cup of tea for a living area (city boy) but it'd be nice to see. :yup:

Nice pics John! Good to hear the new job is working well and you like the new place. The house looks quaint and it appears you have lots and lots of room to play on.

the house is kind of ugly (a sears house) but it is remodeled on the inside and since I don't own it, I don't care. I want land so I that is what I am looking for while I live here, plus I still got to final the sale of my home in MN this year, which I am working on as we speak.

There's so much ----space---- in SD. Just gobs and gobs of open space.

I love it, last night I took a walk up to the hills in my backyard (I should've taken the camera) and just watched the sunset and the clouds for about an hour. very relaxing and stress reducing. No one in sight for miles and just the sounds of birds to break the silence.

Are you able to use the barn for stuff or is it not part of the rental?

HAZZARDJOHN

I get to use a pole barn and an old Grainery that was turned into a garage. The barn is/was full of calf's as he is a working rancher. He bought the farm from his neighbor's estate and expanded his operation, he fixed up the house and rents it out so he doesn't have to take care of the lawn and stuff.

What's the word for the opposite of claustrophobia?

That would be Agoraphobia- Extreme or irrational fear of crowded spaces or enclosed public places

My business trip to Rapid City, SD was pretty interesting. We made it up to Mt Rushmore and the Crazy Horse monument. Had to skirt around some bison resting in the roadway in the national park.
