I have an 1985 Fleetwood Brougham dí Elegance I'm selling and would like some feedback on my price. The engine (brand new) was replaced back in early 2000 and now has around 80,000 miles. Runs great, passes smog every year with no problem, kept clean inside and out, upgraded stereo. Only downsides to this car is a ding in the back passenger side, a wobbly driver-side mirror (adjustable electric mirrors still work), replaced the alternator last year due to an electrical problem (we think related to the windshield wipers). Bottom line, runs great, looks great, a few small problems.

So the all important fact: looking to sell for $5,000. Too high? Too low? What do you guys think?

Thanks all!

it's in great shape but personally 5k is more than i would wanna pay. doesn't mean you can't get 5k where you live, but here in maine that's a little much since these cars go for like 1 to 2 k

5k is a little high to me. Plus you would need some pics of the drivers seat, armrest and the rear of the car. The car may be worth 5k and may sell if you sit on it for a while but I would need pics of the most commonly used areas and a detailed engine compartment.

Is it me or is the front bumper crooked?

I would ask $3000, but expect $2500. Five grand is what you would pay at the dealership.

You can only price it compared to other ones in your area. I wouldn't pay more then $2,500 for it if it was perfect and even then I wouldn't take it because of the 4.1L engine.

So I guess the new engine is not as attractive as I thought. Oh well. Great information as always, thank you all so much for the honest input!

I would not pay 5k for that car. around here they're only worth 5k if they're clean, loaded or well optioned, 1 or 2 owner, all records, etc. and have a chevy motor in them. and even then, most probably don't sell for the 5k price (going rate seems to be 3k around here).
its got body damage on the right side and front end (bumper and grille are crooked), has an aftermarket radio, and the fillers don't match the car (but seem to be intact). plus its still got a 4100 in it, which hurts the value. overall, I like it, but not enough to pay 5k. $1500 maybe, but not 5k. 4100 is alot bigger turnoff ro me than the cosmetic issues.
If I were selling it, I'd ask 2500 and take it from there
