So I installed a new 270 amp alternator yesterday;

but I was having a hard time getting the belt over the pulley. I stretched it over it but there has to be an easier way to get it on..

I noticed that when I pulled the belt, one of the pulley's below moved up a little to accommodate the stretch..

So how do I make belt installation easier?

That pulley that you seen move is the belt tensioner . Move that and the belt will go on

right, that moving pulley is the tensioner. to put the belt on you put a ratchet or wrench on the nut on that tensioner and turn it to move that pulley up and allow enough slack to get the belt on.

Aight. So it's easier to reach the belt tensioner from the bottom, right? I'm about to take this one out and replace it with a 390 amp; Sweet!

He's going to do some mobile welding on the side.
