I have a very strange problem or simply a bad set of cheap position sensors. Several weeks ago my caddy stalled and I was able to restart it. I checked the codes and there was PO386 and PO385. I ordered two new sensors, replaced them and the car would not start. So I exchanged one old for the new and the car started. I did the same for the other and disconnected the working old one and the car again started. Is it possible to get two bad sensors. OR did I miss something on the installation? Do I have to reset the PCM? How can two sensors be bad?

Did you buy new sensors or used ? If new I would check the sensor plug . Also what year and car ?

Do you drive 1996 Fleetwood? Those codes are for OBDII vehicles, so unless your car is a Fleetwood, you might find better responses to your questions on the Front Wheel Drive forum.

Sounds like a Northstar question. They had faulty crankshaft position sensors, and there are two of them. I'm thinking this is a FWD question.....

I'll wait for confirmation on the year before I move this.
