Headed to the track on Saturday.
Today the gains were pretty interesting but first I gotta mention a new "pro tip" or "don't." Yella Terra 1.85 rockers suck cawk with 918 springs and ~15 lbs of boost. They allow some float at high RPM's and you will get a weird dyno curve but all sounds and seems fine otherwise. Basically, the valves are not getting back to seat on the correct timing and I also had elevated iat2's of 20+ degrees. The power completely gives it up at 5600-5700 as it falls off a cliff. The ratio is high and the rockers are too heavy. They will work better with a heavier spring or on a NA car.
So last night I ripped them off and put the stockers back on, then dyno'ed today to make sure that was the issue. It was. Iat2's are back down where they were even before adding 2.5 or actually 3 more lbs of boost. I like it. I actually gained 10 more kpa today with the proper sealing so I'm pretty happy there as well.
Under the curve she's a beast. LOTS of power and tqe added all the way up the band. I think the average is 25/25 through the curve. The tqe stays up there all they way through readline. The HP gain is at 25 all the way through and just shows a bump of 10 where the old and new dyno figures merge right at redline. That much power under the curve should show up very well on the traps.

What you probably had was to close to coil bind. You where past 610 lift and those springs arent meant to handle much over 580lft without high end stability issues. Especially with your stock heavy intake valve.

Put on a set of dual springs with more seat pressure, then redo your tests on the rocker arms. It should show an improvement then.

Power was elevated all the way up to 5600 so it has more to do with low seat pressure than anything. Coil bind would have occurred likely much sooner or entirely across the band with noticeable power loss. They state coil bind is at 1.140 and I am within their recommended lift of .625 (.600/.607) for street use. I was around .967 in the allowance of 1.140. Do not forget about the 15 lbs of boost behind the intake valve.

Those rockers are just too damn bulky in concert with those springs. Sure if I run a stiffer spring it would work but I'd hate to run so much open and closed seat pressure just to lose the HP I gained with the rocker in trying to get the rocker to rock.

Congrats on the numbers, hard work, and testing. Your mild combo is surely getting it done. When are you headed to the track again.

No doubt, great numbers for this set up. I think you have found a great balance of parts/tune to give you the numbers.

Give me 10 more though...

Uh oh! The track is open from 4-10 PM tomorrow after the heat of the day instead of noon - 5 pm. The air should be very good. I hope the rain holds off as predicted.

No, 60% chance of rain. It rained last night. Not worth it for me to go. I was looking forward to it too.

Sunday the track is closed for Mother's Day.

Hopefully next weekend the weather will cooperate.

waitforme, how much more power do you think the 1.85 rockers are worth on top of the ls9 cam? 5,10,15?

I just posted a phat power loss in this very thread....

Well that didn't go as planned tonight. The track could not hold a Jr Dragster. They kept working on it and working on it, dragging it, sweeping and spraying at least 6 times but NO ONE could hook. It was really weird. The temp was in the 70's and the dew point was 50 so it wasn't a factor. I was just listening to everyone bitch about it and load up. The track is usually excellent and the guys really tried but it would not hold.
I did ran a couple 10:60's with 1.7 -1.8 60's while continuing to shread the tires down the track. The first pass it hazed the tires through third. All night shifts to second gear were unpredictable and it pitched sideways once and had to lift. That's pretty rare. On the last pass it boiled the tires after the 60 mark and I almost crossed the center but kept it planted and drove through it. Again, that has never happened to me at this track but it was kinda fun being on the edge. One pass I hit 106.4 mph in the eight. Pretty stout.

If you ran a .60 hazing the tires when it does hook it's gonna be faaaasssst.

Drum, sorry to hear you had trouble hooking. 106 in the 1/8 is smoking. Love to see you get a clean pass soon. I'll be giving it hell this weekend if weather permits.

what was the 1/4 mph?

It'll go 131 or so. I had it shifting at 130 and it was like bawwwwww at the line for like 100'. I left my laptop at home so it wouldn't get stolen and I didn't want to monkey with the tune cause it was close. I've since fixed the shift timing and MPH and increased my line pressures a bit.

No, it shifted how I had it set. 1-4 was flawless. Forgot it might want 5th since I run it in manual shift mode on the dyno to ~136. :)
