View Full Version : EGR Valve Q & A

I got my EGR valve off this afternoon, and boy let me tell you: It was CAKED with carbon. Absolutely caked. The diaphragm wouldn't move at all, it was so bad. A mechanic suggested that I use carb cleaner and that worked wonders. However, I took a look down the place where the valve was, and the walls were caked in carbon. Should I worry about that, and if so, do I use more carb cleaner?

On a completely unrelated note, my gas pedal is jumping randomly. I just happened to have the air cleaner off one day and I saw the circled part on my ISC motor jumping back and forth. Why is it doing this and how can I make it stop?

I'd run sea foam or some simular engine cleaner before I ran carb cleaner. Sounds like a good idea to repace that idle motor.

You've GOT to be kidding me. I just had that damned thing replaced back in October. :xevileye:
