Lol, I had the blackout tape before my car arrived. :)

Looks great! Amazing what window tint can do! That was the first mod I did after I swapped the chrome lug nuts for black ones. Window tint keeps the interior of the car so much cooler too!

Looks great. What brand film and % did you use? I have already blacked the window chrome with vinyl and had the roof racks, side vents, and rear chrome removed and painted Raven black on my wagon. Been struggling with how dark to tint. Yours looks great

Thanks guys! It is Llumar CTX 15% on all windows and a eyebrow that extends barely below the factory brow on the front windshield. I'm going to start blacking out the trim this weekend, and hopefully I can install my lowering springs in the next week.

Driver's side window chrome blacked out. Hopefully I'll have time to lower it Wednesday or Thursday.

Thanks! I used Trimbrite T9005 Black-Out Tape. It's about $6 a roll from amazon.com. I had to order more, I used over a roll and 1/2 on the drivers side.

kirbyCTSV

so it took 3 rolls total?

A wagon is going to take 4 rolls. You can do a sedan with 2 our 3 I believe. The chrome piece on the wagons roof takes 2 passes to completely cover one side so that uses up a lot. I haven't done the pass side yet, I had to order more tape so there would be enough to finish.

How do you put this tape on without it looking like um.... tape??

Is it something that looks good from afar but bad up close? Any close up shots?

I like the look of the windows and blackout chrome on the red wagon. What do you all think about doing it on my Black Diamond wagon. I'm not sure that it would stand out the same way that it does on the other colors.

I may try that, but it would be nice to get them wrapped in one piece.

I was a little concerned about that before I did it as well. The end result is great! It looks like it came that way stock. I've had a few people play spot the difference, and one person thought the black side was stock, and that I had chromed the chrome side.

killing chrome ftw

you will probably have to redo it in 3-4 years. It might shrink over time.

Buy new ones, have them painted body color.

I had mine wrapped and ended up doing just what I suggested and the end result is 1000x better, IMHO.

Still havenít pulled the trigger on the tint, the car is dirty, and Iím no photographer but here you go.
I had the dealership remove the roof racks because the headliner had to come out. Lanzini Bodyworks here in Huntington Beach painted the racks, side vents, and the rear chrome. I had the windows covered in vinyl as the cost to paint was crazy because the windows needed to be removed. The vinyl looks good because it matches the center post well.

Looks nice! Although, given the work you did to your Lightning, I have to ask: when do the real mods start? :)

What was behind your decision to not also paint the front chrome? What was your total cost to get the work done (what should I expect to pay)?

WellÖI look at it all the time and visualize it as black then contemplate if I like the whole stealth look. I knew I hated the vents. Donít like them on an Escalade and certainly didnít want them standing out on this car. The rear chrome seemed to be a nod to the Escalade too. I wasnít sure I was going to like the graphite wheels but they have grown on me. I am a GM guy, Dad worked for Pontiac for 40 years, Iím proud that itís a Cadillac. With the chrome grill people know itís a Cadillac, I like that. My office is a few doors down from D3 and they do that great Noir package with black grills and blacked out wreaths, I like it and you never know mine might look like that soon. I just might be stuck in a rut and want it to match my SUV. hahaha. The r/r of the headliner was $700 and no one but the dealer would do it. The rest was around the same.http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j338/lucthedevildog/DSC01177.jpg

Good info. I always thought the cars had too much chrome on them considering the performance nature of the V series. I definitely like the fact that it is a Cadillac also. I think I am going to have the front chrome painted but leave the wreath alone. Know anyone who has taken it all the way stealth and gone matte?
