82 coupe 4100 engine.
it just started this problem, first thing in the morning or when the engine is cold. it starts and drives like normal, but when i get on the freeway and accelerate to highway speeds the car keeps accelerating unles i hold the brake. the gas pedal goes down by itself and will keep on accelerating unless im steping on the brake. it does this till the engine gets warmed up, then it stops.
anybody know whats up?

If it operates like my '93, it sounds like the throttle plates might be sticking. Hold the throttle open and spray the bore and plates with carb cleaner. Scrub bore and both sides of plates with old toothbrush. Spray again to rinse.
See if that helps.

similar problem i had with my 4.5 it ended up being the throttle linkage. i just sprayed it lightly with some wd40 and its been fine since.
