What components are responsible for the security system in an 02. Im swapping my 99 to a low milage 02 drivetrain.

I have the entire harness bumper to bumper

That's not going to be easy, if it's possible at all

miwise

Its possible.

Even if I have to gut the entire car and replace every sensor. I just wanna know if anyone knows which components exactly are different and incompatible

which components exactly are different and incompatible

just about all of it

edit: they do take the same PF61 oil filter though

Will I need to swap radio? Or the memory modules? Etc
I guess im asking if I need to rip out the dash too. I will if need be

as far as i know nothing is going to be compatible - you'll have to swap everything (like you said earlier)

Aj. If ur there did u have a chance to look at that diagram I sent u?

Im sorry. If u can cram a big ole Northstar n a fiero I don't think its a stretch to be able to do this. This seems minor in comparison

i didn't say impossible... but imho not worth it... just get a 99 donor

My reason for going this rte is bc I've not found a powertrain for my car w less than 100000 mi. If imma spend 3000 or 4000 I want the entire powertrain and close to 50k miles. Getting info from ppl who have the knowledge tho is like trying to squeeze blood out of a turnip. Quite frustrating. Thankfully my uncle has a friend who crams northstars n fieros so he may help

if you're going to spend that much why not just rebuild your current parts instead of hacking together a Frankenstein (because that's what a 2000+ powertrain in a -1999 body will be)

at least that way you will know exactly what you've got...

what assurances do you have that this 2000+ powertrain is in perfect condition?

---

and why are you doing this in the first place? do you have blown head gaskets? leaky lower block seals? p0741 tcc code?

I know the guy. And I don't want rebuilt. Factory only. My current engine has problems. Unrepairable

I'm doing it because I'm tired of messing with this engine and transmission. I want to start fresh

1) getting it to fit is going to be a challenge
2) getting the modules to talk to each other will be a challenge

to me, #2 is more of a roadblock than #1

Fit should be easy. Im gonna just use trial and error since im on my own here pretty much. The 99 and 02 Sts are identical bodywise. They both seem to utilize class 2 serial data streams. I'll know more when I stretch out the 02 wiring harness. I can't afford a remanufactured one and my current tranny has 170000 on it. Seems to make sense to replace both.

definitely replace both together if you do this

you're swapping the PCM too, right?

what about the cluster and radio?

miwise

Is the cluster different? If I must ill swap everything. Im going to swap as little as possible.

Oh. And yes I do have the pcm. Do I need to swap the radio too?

"1993-1999 and 2000+. You CANNOT under any circumstances bolt a 2000+ engine into a 99 or older body or vice-versa. It simply does not work. Too many differences, too many sensors changed and the holes to mount them. Many people have tried, and gone through all of the work to bolt it in and realize that 1) some things don't bolt up correctly, 2) the wiring won't connect and 3) it won't run."

First. This is a single engine swap and not referring to a complete powertrain conversion which is what I plan on doing. :) A lot of the MODULES from the 98 99 cars will indeed function in the 2000+ cars. The engine/pcm doesn't care when the body was manufactured. Only that it recieves the correct input. As long as the computer talks to the dash and suspension modules it should work. My question is how was the wiring changed bw the body control module and pcm.
