: difference between a 1973 and 1974 fleetwood rear end...

been looking at this 1973 Fleetwood, and noticed the rear tail lamp is 'arrow' shaped, as opposed to the 1974 which is more straight (in a side view)

but what about that the huge rear fender..is there a prevalent 'swoop' crease in the 1973, which is more straight in the 1974 ?

any insight...

btw, i do like the 74-76 with the straight rear lights, and square headlights, butt his 1973 i'm considering is pretty mint ...

thx

The sides of the 74-76 models were smoothed out. The 71-73 rear quarter has a rocket or v-shape stamped into the sheet metal. The tail lamps are in the fins on the 73s. For 1974 the tail lamps were moved to the lower back panel. The fins became side marker lamp holders.

That is a nice clean car. Pretty color.

Notice the crease in the front fender starting at the headlight brow? That was smoothed out in 74 as well.

it was jus a random pic to show that rear fender and the stamping they had..

i , must admit i like the straightness of the 75 and 76, esp the tail fin, long rear fender and head lights, BUT i'm going to check out a local '73 today anyway, who knows it may follow me home :)
