Hey folks,
Hoping you can shed some light on the procedure to replace a cam in the 472/500 engines. My friend has an S&S Superior Hearse that has a noisy lifter, so it's time to change the cam out.
The biggest questions are:
1: Do I have to drop the oil pan?
2: Will a universal harmonic balancer puller work?
I'm having a dickens of a time finding an exploded diagram of the 472/500; the car's 5 hours north of me, so I can't simply wander into the garage to see if I need to drop the pan to remove the timing cover.
Any clues to the above? Also, any known tips or tricks for changing the cam and lifters would be greatly appreciated.
