: A '90 with an FKY engine code.

I just picked up a 90 Brougham with an engine code FKY. Its a TBI 350 with an oil cooler and bigger radiator. Thats the only thing I can see different. I'll have to run the vin on the decoder thing to get more info. The guy I bought it from said the head gasket was bad but I've been driving it around for a few days and I'm not getting any signs of a bad head gasket. Clean oil and coolant, a little smoke on start up but I think its oil burning. The guy ran straight pipes split from the cat but its not loud at all. I'm swapping some parts to my 90 and selling it running, taking my rims back off. Not bad for 550. Anybody know what engine code FKY is?

never heard of the FKY engine code...looks like a nice car, though! Damn I wish I could find something like that for $550! :D

All the F codes I know have to do with suspension. Does it have L05 on the SPID? Run the VIN on the Compine tool and post the URL for us to check out!

It says L05 engine code. Not sure why it says FKY on the emissions, this is the third Caddy I've seen with this option and the oil cooler is the only thing I can see different.

Maybe it's like an emissions package or something?

California car perhaps?

What does it say on one without this oil cooler?

Here is another variation of the 5.7 emissions label for '90:

What does FFK mean?

Maybe it just one of those anonymous acronyms that means nothing to anyone expect the mad man that came up with it; like CTS-V (Cadillac Touring Sedan-Valdez?!?)

Yea, I'm not sure anymore. Just checked my other one and its the same, don't remember if it had an oil cooler. I just thought this code was rare
