Last Saturday I went with my friend to try his new 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 at a 1/4 mile drag strip.
To my amazement he run 12.349 at 115.69 mph.
His car is automatic and the only mods were CAI and DR radials.
All I can say that he is able to keep up with my V on the street.
My 2009 auto sedan still has stock tires on.
I guess it's time to modify my V.
I'm waiting for 19 inch Mickey Thompson DR's to become available.

Im guessing it all depends. I have two friends with 5.0s and they are no where close to the V especially from a roll. They both have intake, tune, and exhaust and can drive perrrrrty darn good. My V is also manual and stock. So I don't know, maybe its the air or something. Then again, there's always a factory freak out there.

Yes, because we are all robots who use 100% of our cars 100% efficiently 100% of the time...

Drag radials take a lot of guess work and practice out of launching at the track or on the street.
Street tires on the street are a different story.

i raced few months ago both shelby 2011 and the new gt 2011 ... beat both ... won against the shelby by 2 car length from 40-250 kmh and beat gt by like maybe 6-7 car length from same speed !!!

Let's make sure all this racing discussion applies to the track.

... However, my observation of a manual stock V at the track has been between 12.6 and 12.9 sec. ET. What was the quoted GT 5.0 ET again?

Comparing times from different drivers at different tracks with different tires, etc. is meaningless.

i will race any stock mustang gt with a manual transmission, any time, any place (assuming of course its a drag strip).

I've had this hypothesis that you don't get much with the Cobra over the 5.0 GT. 2/10 tops in the 1/4mi ET.

That's because on street tires, you can't even put all of the GT's power on the pavement at launch. To say nothing of the GT500/550. Now, on a road course...

Them new 5.0's be doin it! I've seen manual ones dip into the 11's with a tune, cold air, and a tire.

Beating down a GT500 and an Audi R8 at Laguna Seca...don't underestimate this car.
