What was the exact thinking behind this car? What were they trying to accomplish with this model?

It was part of the GM Motorama in the '50s. If you do a search on google, it should turn up a few cool concepts. Lemans, La Espada, Orleans, El Camino were just some of the concepts Cadillac displayed.

Hell Dope, why not get your own car into the custom shop and make an updated version? The color is right.
I've always wanted a car of that vintage. The dashboards give me a chubby. For all the things that make modern cars nicer for the average driver, those 50's cars had a certain charisma that no car of today can touch. When you caught a glance of one, you knew exactly what model you were looking at, and usually what year too. Sadly, those days are gone.
