This is a chop of what we've seen so far of the new design language from Lexus..

1. It's not boring.
2. Nobody here will like it.
3. I'm sure it'll look nice when the production version hits showrooms...

But one step at a time.. Anyway.. Toyota doesn't want to be boring anymore. So they're going to offend every Cadillac enthusiast to attract a more youthful audience.. Let's see how it does in it's first year of sales...

Well, that front incorporates every "kitsch" styling gimmick currently in vogue. What can I say, so Japanese! The Japanese do best when they go to the Italians, or at least Europeans for their designs (witness the original 240Z, several of the Mazda models and the Euro-copy of the original Lexus). It cannot be said, of late if ever, that Lexus makes good looking cars. Most are bland, some are just plain ugly copies of other design ideas. Looks like more of the same from Toyota and Lexus!

thats an ugly "chop" (when did we start calling them chops anyway), but the styling does look very aggressive and generally appealing. not to me but i can see where it would be seen as bold and aggressive styling by reviewers and people who get paid to talk about this stuff. the youth will swallow it up

It's a disproportionate mess. Almost every line works against any general styling.

To even make it somewhat passable:
1) Invert the grill. Make the whole grille assembly look like an upside-down CTS (or Audi) grille. Match up the chome accents on the upper and lower grilles - they can't just be placed wherever. Both the grilles and chrome accents need to look related!
2) Match up the top of the foglights with the top of the lower grille.
3) What's going on with those headlights? Something funky is going on with the perspective there. Are they supposed to be recessed like the Camaros or yore?
4) Center the Lexus emblem.

The few I see around my neighborhood seem to be driven myopic older women with very thick glasses, who are oblivious to other forms of fashion as well.

There was a tin toy car (probably also made in Japan) back in the late 1940's, it even had a steel retractable top, that looked very much like the SC430, bet there is some senior Toyota manager who wanted one of these as a kid and foisted the full size version on us to satisfy his unfulfilled childhood desires!

Probably.

The R8 has one of the most menacing faces in the industry as it is, and the all LED (low beam and runners) headlamps give it downright Transformer levels of bad-assery. I see nothing "rice" about these at all...

http://www.otopict.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/2011-Audi-R8-Spyder-5-2-FSI-Quattro-LED-View.jpg

By far the riciest aspect on that entire GS is that GODAWFUL front bumper. I can not imagine how the whole front end is EVER going to fit back together right after even a minor front end collision. And all those protrusions are going to rub and scrape everything under the sun, looking like shit in no time flat. The rest of the car is really just a 3/4ths scale LS460 with an arguably more forward looking interior. This interior treatment is actually somewhat refreshing.

I like the R8. But I wouldn't buy it for its looks. Meh in that department.

Hmm.

I used my V to go further in the future to cut off its legs. And to buy a cup. 2 Audis 1cup.

My Audi definitely kicked in the nuts; all in all I'd prefer a different automotive experience!

wouldn't you want to go back into the past to cut off their legs? that way, when they come back from the future to kick you in the nuts they can't since they don't have any legs...

... another thing to think about is that if you cut off their legs and then they come back from the future to kick you in the nuts... there's a good chance that they might have received some sort of bionic enhancement (ie robot legs) and when they kick you in the nuts it will be a lot harder than if you had just left their legs alone ...

i know, time travel can be confusing and complex ... there's a good reason only a few people can do it
