: SRX Overhead Console Removal, Radar Detector Hardwire

Decided to get that ugly cord out of sight. There are other ways of doing this, such as a power tap at the fuse block, right side of the lower console, but I have always favored the "closest power" method for radar detectors. Escort says the detector uses ~1 amp.
The picture shows the overhead console removed.
(1) I used a putty knife wrapped in duct tape to gently persuade the overhead console clips to release. (2) Soldered an inline fuse holder with + wire to the plugs red wire (red box) and (3) soldered the ground wire from the detector to the black wire in the same plug. (4) Fish the wire under the headliner ~6 inches and you're done.
The circuit sleeps when the car goes into power save.

Nice job/details, Garytexas. Glad you joined the Forum. What options do you have? A Turbo perhaps?? I would need a Detector also.....:lildevil:

Even my 3.0 moves well, if I flog her.

Thanks, it's just a stock 3.0. Cops here in Georgia are sneaky though, so I like to get the ole' escort up really high on my vehicles. Ever notice how the front of the SRX/CTX kind of resembles a stealth aircraft? Wonder if this lack of flat surfaces changes anything to Radar or laser?
