Hello Cadillac Enthusiasts,
I am the superintendent for Floral Hall Arts & Crafts at the Orleans County Fair in Barton, VT. I am also the chairman (chief instigator) of the committee for our bid to break the Guinness World Record for the Largest Cadillac Parade.

Want to be a part of bringing the World Record for the Largest Cadillac Parade home to the United States? The current Guinness World Record: A total of 102 Cadillac cars participated in a parade at the Cadillac Oldtimer Festival held in Leimuiderbrug, the Netherlands, on 18 August 2002.

The Orleans County Fair in Barton, Vermont, childhood home of the inventor of the Cadillac, Henry M. Leland, will be holding this record breaking event the week of August, 17, 2011. Please google our blog at Vermontís Orleans County Fair News Blog for up to date information and pre-registration forms as soon as they are available.

We hope to see many of you! :yup:

Participating in breaking a guiness record would be pretty awesome

There is nothing better than driving sweet VT roads on a warm, sunny day. Depending on the day of the week, maybe a mobile meet that could involve a day of driving starting or ending in Barton is in order...

In Stowe, VT, a beautiful, scenic 40 minute drive to Barton, you can participate in their HUGE car show on the weekend before. Stowe's car show dates are the 12th -14th of August. Our event will likely be Wednesday, the 17th. You could make a week of it in beautiful northern Vermont. Keep an eye on this blog http://vermontsocfnews.blogspot.com/ to get the latest details and find pre-registration forms as soon as they are ready.

Have you considered contacting the Cadillac and LaSalle club regarding this event? Maybe you could get one Cadillac from every year of production to show up (or as close as possible). I would try it. Go big!

I wish you the best of luck.

Too far for me but 102 Caddy's should be easy pickings. I've seen more than a dozen cruising on a sunny Saturday afternoon on Highway 100 around Milwaukee.

The record derserves to be a thousand (or at least a hundred different combination of year & model cars.)

I am glad to see someone thinks 102 Caddys should be easy enough to bring together. I have to raise about 8K to 10K to get a rep from Guinness to come the event and verify the record. We will hate to come up short on the record.

Stingroo
03-29-11, 07:59 AM
Wow really? It costs that much for them to just come out and view?

That's a bunch of crap.

ThumperPup
03-29-11, 10:03 AM
wow yeah that is a bunch of crap 8-10k what the heck

Lorie Seadale

Well, the break down is more like this... they charge 4000 euro (or whatever the current currency is in London) which comes to about $6,500 U.S. We also have to round trip fly them here from their nearest office, (NY,NY) about $200 and put them up for the night, about $100. The rest if for promotional needs and hopefully some kind of recognition, certificates for participants. My time is volunteer.

Hope some of you are able to come.

Our blog has had hits from five other countries, Hungary, Brazil Canada, Italy and, as of today someone from the Netherlands (where the current record is held) was on our blog http://vermontsocfnews.blogspot.com/

I hope they aren't planning to rally and redo their record and up the numbers before August!!!

PLEASE, Come Help Us Out!!

guiness is such a racket ... you might as well also get into the Universal Records DataBase record book while you're at it

doesn't seem like it should cost $8,000

That is an excellent idea Stingroo to contact the Cadillac/LaSalle club in the area. There are several in the Upstate/New England area.

To Rippypartsdept, Never heard of the Universal Records DB before. Maybe that's why the big G can command the big BUCKS! Fact is, it IS free, if you don't care about having an "adjudicator" at your event when you have all the media there lined up. Anyone is welcome to stumble through their 15 pages of requirements for authentication, jump through a lot of hoops, provide signed affidavits and photographs, fill out the "submit your record data" bla bla bla, and wait 4 weeks to be able to make the announcement if you got the record or not. In the meantime someone else could have already topped your record! The process rather takes the Oomphfff out of the whole event if you don't get the confirmation announcement on the spot.

Yeah, i've got no clue how that came out so well considering the time of day...

I guess I can't take all the credit - the GiMP did all the hard work

the forum software will probably auto scale it down to fit, but if you right click and view it that way you should get the full size version which can then be scaled down to whatever size you want
