: DIC fuel usage incorrect

I have been noticing when I fuel my car ( 2006 v6 STS 4) that it takes more fuel than what the computer says that I have used. For example .... today I filled up. The car said I had used 51.8 litres since the last fill up but it took 58 litres to fill the tank. I can see it being off a bit but that seems alot. Has anyone else noticed this?

thanks

Mine is fairly accurate.

Mine seems to be about a gallon optomistic when refilling from about 3/4's (about 4 liters to the OP); I suppose this is the reason my average mpg is also slightly optomistic too.

I'm with C&C. Both my wife and I find the system about 7% optimistic.

After having a DIC in a few GM cars over the years I find the really meaning is "Driver Entertainment Center." Accuracy is not one of its finer points. Mile to go to empty is pretty reasonable until it hits around 50, and saves face by just telling you LOW FUEL, which is OK because you should never let the fuel tank get too low as the fuel in the tank tends to act as a coolant for the electric fuel pump. All else is for a WAg and not pin-point on. The Oil Life Indicator may be the most accurate.

The inaccuracy of the DIC in the 2006 STS surprised me a bit because my previous STS (year 2000) was very accurate.
Everyone's results seem to vary.
Maybe DEC is a more appropriate name.

Correction - Her 2007 is much more accurate on fuel used; still optimistic, but only about 2%
