I don't think it's going to be televised, but it looks like you can watch it LIVE online, either on your PC or smartphone (Android/Iphone.)

The Cadillacs didn't look too competitive today. I felt bad for Skeen in the Vette. He and the Porsche were running #2 and #1, respectively as they caught traffic on the last lap. The Porsche got around a spun car and the Vette nailed him.

How are the Caddys doing J?

Ooops, guess not too good.

On the restart, O'Connell jumped up to 4th on great positioning. But, almost immediately, he fell back to 5th as a Porsche(I believe) outbraked him and got a spot back. From there, both him and Pilgrim were just holding on. After Skeen in the Vette hit the spun car, I was watching a little Volvo S60 hounding O'Connell trying to get his spot. He held him off but only because the Volvo is underpowered.

But it is just the first race and adjustments will be made by Cadillac and by the sanctioning bodies to get them more up to speed...

In '04, the Vs were monsters right out the box and they had to be reigned in a bit. So things will get better...

Great pics.

Absolutley correct. P&M/Katech have a treasure chest of WC experience and synergy coming from the numerous years the Vettes took top winnings. Did anyone know if LG Motorsports is running in this series?

I cant get it to stream the video, it says its still 1 day+ away?

Watching. They are giving glowing words about Cadillac and the V-series right now.

Thanks for the pix and the link.

race was good, easy to get access to watching it as well, not a huge pain in the ass to find a way to watch like ALMS!

03-27-11, 05:56 PM
missed the second session...how'd it go and how did the V's do ???

03-27-11, 07:28 PM
Waiting for standings to post up on WC site. My amateur assessment along with a difficult streaming presentation is the Viper threw a deep turn-one cheap shot on the race start wrinkling up some Cadillac sheet metal, Vdub climbs wall of tires, Skeen in C6 looks good, V's run strong together near 6th place mid race, sportscasters have an epic interview with a Cadillac Racing official as race goes on, C6 leaves race with what looks like a rear cradle failure dog-tracking badly, Pobst suffers a disabling crash in Volvo near end, yellow Porsche passes blue Porsche near last 5 laps for a win. Hopefully at least a top 5 for Johnny or Andy.
Bottom line: Cadillac CTS-V's were strong and sounded absolutely incredible in a field of cars that mostly sounded like buzzing bees. An honorable mention to the evil sounding Mustang and of course the C6's.

The above is just my view and may not be entirely accurate as I was interrupted many times while watching.

Yeah, that was pretty much it, Nutz. Very enjoyable to watch. Can't wait to do it again, especially since the live races are to be streamed.

Race wrap-up.

O'Connell 7th and Pilgrim 8th. STRONG start for Team Cadillac :v:, Pratt and Miller, and Katech.

My name is Keith and this is my first post here on the board. I blog about Corvettes as my day job and have been a fan of Johnny O'Connell for years now. I spent Friday and Saturday at the track in St. Pete for the World Challenge races and I interviewed O'Connell Saturday afternoon in which we discussed his leaving Corvette Racing, the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe Racer and his future racing plans.

The video with race highlights and the interview is on corvetteblogger (dot) com. I'd post a direct link but am unable as this is my first post on the board.

Cadillac got hold of something special when signing Johnny O to the program. One of the best American road race drivers ever, he owns records from Sebring to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Plus, he is a heck of nice guy that will be a great spokesman for Cadillac.

He's driven for Cadillac before, you know- back when the Katech V sedans were racing.

I was at the race also, the V's looked awesome and talking to Johnny and Andy about how SCCA has the V's chocked down in horse power to be competitive is BS. Patrick Long in a P-car worn everybody out and he had penalty weight added before the second race. Looks like some seriouse sand bagging going on the high powered VW P-cars!! The V's were the best sound car out there. Both Johnny and Andy did a great job for the first race of the year. They are planning to have Caddie corrals at some of the future events so talk to your local dealer to see if they hear anything. The locals down in St Pete had a Caddie corral with perfered parking at the track, caddie racing hats, a free race suite for viewing the race and autogragh session with the drivers and a pit tour of the cars and hauler. Way cool, but way to hushed!! The invit to the corral came from dealerships putting customers name in for this special carral pass. I had my 11 V coupe that I drove there, would have been sweat to park with our caddie peeps and get the royal treatment that the some locals got. SCCA has the V's chocked down to 460 RWHP, we have more power than they do, that's BS!!!!! If you get a chance to attend a race the teams really enjoys seeing us support them, wear your V hat/shirt so they know that you are part the "V" Nation. I had a great time, can't wait for Road Atlanta in Oct,
