: Triple A-Pillar Pod Complete

I finally got this completed after I found a local upholstery shop that could add some fabric for me. The whole project took probably 8 hours worth of my time and approximately $200 in materials excluding the gauges. The gauges themselves are Pro sports which are cheap but I read good reviews before I bought them. We will see how they hold up but so far so good and the price is unbeatable.

First I marked where I wanted the pod and then screwed it onto the extra pillar I bought.

The pod didn't mold exactly to the pillar so I cut a piece out so I could glass it more closely to the pillar.

Getting sick of sanding yet? :) Also lowered the tweeter. (I didn't do the passengers side to match yet, I may later but its doubtful)

This is how it went to be upholstered. Gives you an idea of how smooth you need to have it. (Not very).

LOOKS GOOD ---- :2thumbs:
:coffee: Now, what we really need to know is . .
what is the procedure for removal and replacement of the pillar.
:yup: Some of us get a little cautious when we see the 'air bag' plug and have visions of :stars:BOOM in the face.

Haha just pop that "airbag" cover off and unscrew. There is no airbag behind the a-pillar its further towards the rear of the car.

And know I can assure you there is not an air bag behind the a pillar trim. What does the little plastic thing at the top say again??? Just so you dont make the same mistake twice, the air bag is behind the headliner and its really more of an off white.

Haha You might get your wish from Bobby soon. I think he is selling his V in preparation of his daughter being born. Better PM him and get dibs on it cause this boy isn't even LOOKING at any sanding projects for a while!

You know I honestly tried to scratch my head over how I could make a few of these because I knew you, and others, would be interested. However you really cannot do it and have a mutual transaction occur. Meaning I would have to charge $400+ to make it worth my while (and maybe more) and you guys don't want to pay that much (rightfully so). About the only way you could do it is to get with someone who could make you a mold from a one off piece. Then you are back at the fact that the demand is very limited and so that will never happen. Sorry brother, I tried for you.

looks great!

Thanks!

Geez, I somehow missed this thread.

Jon, that looks outstanding!

Where'd you get the extra pillar and the triple-pod setup?

Got the gauge pod here: http://www.glowshiftdirect.com/Universal-Triple-Gauge-A-Pillar-Pod.aspx

And the a-pillars came from ebay. (I made him an offer for $30 and he took it)

You wouldn't happen to need a passenger side a-pillar would you? haha

I totally understand - time and money. You just have to want it enough to make a set for yourself.

Again, great job on the pillar pod!

Thank you, I only wish the wide band was a little more integrated with the boost and fp. It is on its lonesome just flashing 10.0 until it warms up...

One billion dollars.

I'll take two. Please bill them to my Swiss bank account - you have the number. (And tell Heidi I said hello.)
