: Dodge Magnum Commercial

Do any of you know which car that Dodge Magnum races in the newest commercial?

At the end, the silver car pulls up to the Magnum after racing and exclaims, "Dude, what you got in there!?" and he responds "Some two by fours, an amp and a surf board!" or some cheesy bullshit. I love that silver sportster he races.

I.......can't .......remember.....BUT if you want to see a bunch of custom Magnums, watch the new Mannie Fresh video...

It's a Ferrari, but I forget the model.

10-05-04, 10:32 AM
actually the car is really a pontiac fiero , has one of those fiero reskin kits on it , but i forgot who that kit comes from , next time you see the AD note the front windsheild/a pillar/roofline

the fiero is probably the worst car that is the most desirable. you can do anything with it.

Look an awful lot like a Lotus Esprit to me.

10-05-04, 12:14 PM
yah thats that kit , they have a kit that reskins it to a lotus or a lambo or a ferarri , whatever you want ......It could also be the previous gen "fino" kit but i cant remeber for sure ......but im positive its a fiero under all that stuff ......

if its an 88 fiero it would make you partly right about it being a lotus under there as the suspseion bits in 88 came from lotus :bighead:

The Silver car that it races in the commercial is the Lotus Esprit. Likelihood of it being a reskinned Fiero is kinda low actually. Likelihood of it being one of the Esprits owned by many film supply companies is higher if you ask me. I'm thinking Basic Instinct.

i would guess that if they're using a car for a commercial, it's not going to be very nice. so i'm guessing they don't have the real thing there. i would say the best bet would be a fiero.

Its none ! That car, is a fake as can be model... its got a lamborghini "styled" rear end to make you think its rich and fancy and fast.. when its not. As stoney said.. based on a fiero probably.

10-05-04, 07:20 PM
Exactly....its not anything exotic.....it is a fiero, which to us who know really degrades the Magnum..haha....but it is for sure a Fiero....not a bad car when moded...but no competition to a magnum.......O WAIT maybe it hada 4.9 dropped in...hehe

10-05-04, 09:53 PM
Yeah... I was looking at the 0-60 times for that thing. Bad even for '89

Thanks for the help by the way, everyone ;-)

actually the proposed 1989 Fiero was nothing to sneeze at , it had a Tuned Port Injection 4.3 V6(think a 1989 corvette engine with 2 cylanders lobbed off) and more componets from lotus for the suspension over the outgoing 88, Never saw production nor were any track numbers on that car ..

1988 was the best year in handleing, 1985 GT manual tranny was the fastest year overall with the 1984 Indy pace car being fastest factory fiero 3 made if memeory serves with #3 going to the winner of the race (rick mears) #2 i belive was crushed and #1 resides at GM from what i was told ....There was also a slew of factory fiero racecars (IMSA Fiero) ususly powered by "superduty" Iron Duke 2.5l 4cyls teedering on 200 all motor HP.....

.........and the Zimmer QuickSilver ??? :bouncy: :bouncy:

you know i finnaly got the oppertunity to look at one 6 months ago ...after some thought i didnt think it would be a very good investment , but it was intersting to see how they could do a car like that out of a fiero(looked pretty damn cool)

There are very nice kits for the Fiero, actually, here are some I found :

Errr... I'll stop raiding CarDomain now. Anyways, some of these kits look pretty good, but I've reached my conclusion and think that this could definitely be the car in the Dodge commercial, seeing what you're able to do to one.

And actually, I don't think these can really be considered "body kits," just kit cars using the fiero body

Here's a Lotus Esprit, by the way. This could definitely be the car, too :-\

reminds me , i need to get a fiero before they all are hacked up ....

Yeah... I'm exploring the local dealership websites now, actually. By the way, it was a Fiero, here it is:

those kits are made 4 hours away from where i live(melborne fl) , i get mad everytime i drive by , theyve always got a few hacked up fieros sitting out front waiting for parts

10-06-04, 01:30 AM
I might be taking a drive down to Florida pretty soon here then :-\

those cars are cool. my friend is making a prototype car using a fiero chasis. it seems to have the perfect setup for rear engine kit cars. i wonder if they knew that when they built it??

Here's the ultra luxurous Zimmer Quicksilver from 1985-1988

one of the most interesting points is the sterecting of the car by moving the front wheels forward a few inches , not an easy task when your dealing with coolant lines that are already too long (run from the engine in the back to radiator in the nose)
