: A few aesthetic changes

I took the snow tires off this weekend and decided to leave them mounted to the factory polished aluminum rims (since I had curbed one of them pretty well) and get a new set of wheels for the Summer tires.

I bought a set of Chrome (Permachrome) Wheels from US Wheel Exchange and got my Re-11's mounted to them last week. BTW, this company was fantastic to deal with and the wheels are PERFECT. I put them on Friday night. Might be hard to tell in the pics, but they are MUCH nicer than the factory polished aluminum....at least the ones that were on my car. I was also bored yesterday and decided to blackout the chrome below the windows. I had already done the part around the top of the windows last year. I used "Blackout Tape" for all of it.

My Cobra buddies have been giving me mixed reviews, but the majority (as I) like the blackout look better. Here's a before and after on the windows (the Chrome wheels are on the car in both pics). Feedback welcome, even if it's negative.

Yea, I know I'm not exactly breaking new ground here. :) I know Razorecko had done the bottom part and I think he said he was unhappy with it and took it off.

I liked it better immediately though.

I like the contrast of the Blacked out window trim with the Chrome Wheels and Chrome Vent. It evens out. Great job!!

I attempted blacking out the trim the other night, I killed about 6 feet just trying to do one piece of the door. I couldn't lay it down for the life of me without air bubbles being left in it. Trying to get the curves on the top side was challenging as well. If you have any tips I would appreciate them :)

Did you use any heat to apply?

From the vantage point of your picture it really does look painted. Nice job indeed

From my brief trials of wasting tape it goes on really well and sticks really well, don't think you will need heat. You just need a lot of patience get it laid down right. I'm going to give it another go in a few days

Beautiful, Larry, I like the blackout look. I might have done the vents also, though. Beautiful car.

No heat needed. The tape is very sticky and remains sticky even after pulling parts of the tape off multiple times as you work down the car making sure you get all the air bubbles out. Takes some patience, but no special skills. The bottom was much harder than the top only because doing under the side view mirrors is a PITA.

ADHD, OCD... and whatever else there is. The ADHD serves me well, other than not being able to read :histeric:
