: What were they thinking?

Just saw a 2011 Accord and I thought that somebody had glued some gay mods on, upon closer inspection they appeared to be stock. Not sure why they took a step back in looks, but they did:

I must say the picture doesn't give a good perspective of how bad they look in real life. Can you guys think of any other examples where little 'refreshes' and 'updates' have made a car look worse or been a step backward?

it doesnt even really matter because, as a Honda, its bad enough

Other than the clear tail light covers(LAME), I dont see anything out of the ordinary.

Ok, the exhaust tips look slightly aftermarket but that's debatable...

I couldn't believe those lights were stock the first time I saw them.

Here's the old one without that odd protrusion

Either way you slice it(pre or post refresh), the current gen Accord has to be the ugliest Accord ever. Probably the ugliest family sedan on the market right now, both inside and out.

Seriously, those upside down looking door handles:wtf:

Dash layout is pretty bad too, looks like some 1980's shit. Back then, moar buttons=moar luxury. Plus the whole interior is pretty damn cheap feeling unless you spring for an EX with leather, where they upgrade a lot of the plastics as well.

yikes- that dash has button overload. I like my caddy dash just fine. I know where every button is without looking away from the road.

I loved my '99 Accord coupe and it's still a sleek, handsome car. The current Accord is hideous.

I liked the 98-02 Accord, and kinda liked the 03-07 body style, but the new one is awful, even in coupe form.

The current coupe has an ass the size of Albuquerque.

Honda inspired the new C-class coupe:

There's a new C-Class Coupe, or is that just a CLK?

No there's a C Class coupe now.

CLK nomenclature was retired in 2010, and it's now split between the C-Class coupe, and E-Class coupe/convertible.

I hope the new C-class coupe isn't as tragic as their last attempt.

The majority of all new cars are are butt ugly and have zero soul/class. Sure they might be great to drive, but when people look at you in a new Accord or even a Benz, it's like "Whatevers" now. The gap between your regular mid size car, and the luxury one's are becoming so irrelevant, almost not worth the extra cash. All your paying for is the name and some performance gains over the standard cars honestly since high end features are making there way down to the non luxury cars.

As for the rear of that Honda, I think they made a mistake. It's terrible.

Actually, they were more than just an ugly ducking. Their handling was relatively "sporting" compared to upmarket Mercedes of the day. They also could be had with a six speed manual that with the supercharged four banger would get you to 60 in less than 6.8 seconds. These "C" series cars offered almost all the Mercedes safety equipment and plus HVAC, sound system, sport seats and the convenience and utility of a hatchback along with Mercedes quality assembly. All for a price of $24,900. delivered, not bad if you wanted the sole of a Mercedes and could tolerate an "international" level of upholstery (good quality but certainly not attractive to folks that hang around here). I had an 2002 Merc CLK Coupe and I have to say that Mercedes was taking advantage of the public's naiveté buy charging $20,000 for the CLK verses the Kompressor Coupe.
