Man I hope this can be me. My first one is used but eventually I'll buy that shiny new one. Wonder if he gets a heritage of ownership badge everytime. It must be the record for highest number.

Of course being a retired UAW worker he still gets a significant employee discount. That plus a UAW pension and the fact at his age I'm sure his mortgage was paid off many many years ago, makes buying a new Caddy alot easier.

I wasn't as much interested in the story as I was surprised by the negative--one might say Socialistic--comments left by several people, criticizing his right to spend his money as he sees fit. Have we gone that Left??

Well, it is Flint - where Michael Moore got his start.

I saw those comments too. How sad.

I see plenty of Obama bumper stickers on Mercedes and Range Rovers up here in New England. Liberal Dems can spend all they want on foreign cars apparently.

Funny how a $55-$65,000 Cadillac is considered an ostentatious display of wealth when they drive $80,000 cars and SUVs.

Oh wait, conservatives make their money the old fashioned way, we earn it. And thus the reward of our labor. And a Cadillac has always been that reward for generations.

So... let me see if I have this straight...
NO ONE can post an opinion on the forum unless we clear it with "YOU" first????

Is that right???

And as to guessing political affiliations of some people...
Well...if they have Obama stickers all over the back of the car...
It seems pretty obvious (at least to me)...what their political leaning are.

Same thing if you see McCain or Bush stickers on a car... pretty obvious what THEIR positions are also.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure THAT out. :) :)

By that reasoning, I should assume that the little Femi-Nazi driving her BMW 325i obviously paid for by daddy festooned with Love Your Mother (earth), Hope & Change, CoExist, Obama '08, etc. stickers telling me she wished gas was $5/gallon so I couldn't drive that "Polluting Gas Hog" is an ultra conservative just like me???

I think not!

We were not the ones who commented negatively on that nice story about a man looking forward every year to buy his new Cadillac. It's his money and he can buy any car he wants.

If I see a new BMW, Mercedes or Range Rover with an Obama sticker on it (which I do alot here in the Blue State I live in) I see it as ironic that these are the same people who want to tell me what temperature to set my home thermostat at, what car to drive or what light bulb I can buy.

Why can't I be offended that it's OK for a liberal Democrat to buy a $70,000 Volvo S80 or Audi A8 sedan, yet a Cadillac buyer is branded as a wasteful consumer?

If there are any Liberal Dems on this board please explain to me how you justify your Cadillac ownership to your Liberal Democratic friends?

Now you'll have to excuse me while I go turn up my thermostat, turn on several incandescant light bulbs and go flush a toilet for no reason.

Rumor on the street is that the guy has read our comments and he is now looking at used cars. I think I just saw him test driving a 90 Geo Metro with stick. 52 mpg if I remember correctly.
